There... there are no words...

This is like Pink Floyd releasing an album inspired by Pearl Jam.

I like Pink Floyd and I like Pearl Jam, but that sounds horrible, and I hope it's what you're getting at.

In other news, RHCP to turn Radiohead into generic anthem rock.

it's also not at all what the article said. their only evidence is that RHCP's drummer may or may not have listened to an electronic drum-beat mixtape. and they might have a piano on one of their tracks. that band hasn't done anything different in 10 years, i seriously doubt they'll start now.

They are cool to hate on...and I get that. But I still have hope these guys can kick ass. Cut out all the lame ballads, focus on the funk with John and Flea, and quit singing about Cali and maybe, just maybe, it will be a great...or good...album.

I hope.

/I like their old stuff and even Californication and quite a few songs on BTW...but Stadium Arcadium is lame

Didn't they disband just recently?

I'll repeat what I said in the last couple RHCP threads just in case the universe is listening this time:

Since John and Flea's most inspired playing has been on The Mars Volta albums, they should have Omar Rodgriguez Lopez of TMV produce the new Chilis album. Or call it a career.

Pretty much THIS.

Now if they ditched their singer, decided to make a straight up nosebleed funk album, then Id sit up and pay attention

Radiohead and RHCP don't mix, there's no way that Thom Yorke can match the vocal range of Anthony Kiedis

Don't worry, this won't change their sound significantly. There has been a streak of artists lately saying they have a "radiohead-styled" new album. For instance, Jack Johnson said it (WTF?). Same exact sound as his previous albums. Bloc Party actually gave it a helluva a shot, but they were still pretty new and hadn't really established a sound.

I predict the same sound with a few synth tics here and there. Maybe a drum machine in a song or two.

I really don't understand the Radiohead hate on fark. They are possibly the only modern band that can have a Number One album while still maintaining artistic integrity.

Every band sucks. There was a group of pygmy chimps that played kazoos that we all liked for a minute, but then they were interviewed by Pitchfork and we decided that they do indeed suck too.

A Mars Volta-inspired album from them would make more sense.

UHHMMM, comments like that are why we hate radiohead. It has little to do with the band or the music.

I think he just means they're going to dedicate the next album to ripping off a semi-obscure 80s band.

It's Fark, where all music sucks, and it's very, very important for people to know which bands you dislike.

Except for Rush and Dream Theater. Those two seem to get near universal love on Fark, for some reason.

Good point.

Though it's not actually possible to dislike Weird Al, is it?

I can explain that. See, a lot of the people on here are computer nerds/coders/programmers/IT type people, people who dedicate their lives to intricate arrangements, arcane methods, and high-end, custom-tailored gear to perform specific functions. Bands like Rush, Dream Theater, King Crimson, etc (prog rock generally), like computer code, is heavy on technique, precision, and intricate arrangements using high-end, custom tailored gear that all serves a purpose.

Also, the musicians all have goatees and ponytails and still get laid, so really, they're folk heroes to a lot of people on here.
