John Mayer is a douche...that is all.

My fear is that he was planning to kill himself on the plane, and now he's been stopped.

'Your Body Is A Wonderland' is the greatest song ever written in the history of the world.

Being caught with a tiny legal object is NOT smuggling.

Happened to me once too - on my way home from a trip, I packed the gifts & souveniers in my carry-on, in case the airline decided to jettison my luggage over the Rockies or something.

One of them was a corkscrew from the hotel, which is of course a lethal prohibited weapon, and so they told me to either give it up, give it away, or whatever, but I just couldn't take it with me on the plane. They were quite nice about it. Happens every day, they said, and the big tub of confiscated toothpaste tubes and nail clippers seemed to agree.

Hardly a big deal.

I've seen MUCH douchier. He has his merits. You don't get invited to the Crossroads Festival unless you gots some chops.

I don't know if that's the appropriate link to debunk douchieness considering he's sporting a double popped collar.

In the end, it simply takes too much effort to hate John Mayer than it does to give in to his boyish charms and guitar chops.

Play on, Mayer, play on.

Say what you need to say, man.

Bit of a stretch to refer to this incident as 'smuggling'.

Ya know what? I'm gonna go out on a limb and defend the guy strictly on the basis of the parking lot/bear suit gag.

puckhead: in other news, guess who's in the bear suit.

I don't care, I want that bass.

Stupid security, they should have let him keep it on the condition that he actually did off himself.

I hate it when articles like this try to make something so mundane sound controversial. This sort of thing happens all the time. I forgot that I had a pocketknife when I was at the airport about a year ago. It slipped my mind because I just always have one in my pocket. Security was pretty cool about it, they told me I didn't have to leave it with them, but I couldn't take it on the plane. They pointed me to the ticket counter, who gave me a box so I could mail it back home (luggage was already gone). They didn't let it slide that one time because they were so starstruck to see me there. I'm sure that's just standard procedure.

puckhead: I'm starting to like the guy more and more.

He seems like a very decent person with a healthy level of self-irony. His "2 guys one cup" parody was pretty funny, and showing up to the beach in one of those Borat-style swimsuits takes guts. He was pretty funny on "Chapelle's Show" as well.

Don't care for his music, though I've heard he does some fun covers in concert.

This has happened to me like three times. Who knew that you could get a whole article on you written over it. I hope I'm not on any watchlists for trying to smuggle dangerous weapons.

/f*ck authority!

It's not a parking violation, they let it slide, and they get firedm plus possible trouble with the DHS.

I see very few people understand this.

How are they going to put you on a list? Shooting a listbeam at you with their minds?

Unless they jot down your info from your passport, it's not possible.

Plus it happens dozens of times a day.

Now you forget a bomb in your bag that's another story... even a gun in your carry-on would produce a lot of hooplah, maybe a fine but no list.

But then again with your: "/f*ck authority!" comment it's clear you are not a man capable of logic or rational thought.
