Oh noes! Whatever shall we do without our insect vomit?

Don't worry guys, I have a plan to fix all this. Now, I've got the island all set up, I just need one of you to lure Nicholas Cage there. Conveniently, I hear he has a funeral to attend soon, so you can meet him there.

Laugh it up subby, while I survive in high style in Treehouse Eden with my stable of repopulation she-foxes during the oncoming Robot Apocalypse, and hear your futile pleas for susteneance and protection, you'll be stung to death by my hives of well-trained worker bees; who by the way provide me with one of the most nutritive sweeteners known to man.

That is if you can even survive the brutal molecular onslaught of crossing my impenetrable Floglossian Rejection Shield - AS IF!

Heading on sunday to restock up on bee vomit. Probably buy a few pounds of tupelo, some winter white, and then maybe orange blossom for something different.

I do love me some honey and its more than worth it to pay a little extra for the good stuff.

If you have to start an article with why your methods are better than USDA, your not a legitimate source of information. This reads like somebody who is stuck long on a trade.

so little bees ==> little honey ==> bad prospects for future polination ==> less buritto toppings?

Didn't we just get a scientific report a few days ago about how all of this dying bee madness was overblown?

When you actually ask folks however, it turns out that right about 50% of the population actually goes out and buys honey. About 35% never buy, or eat honey, while the rest only consume it in foods that have it as an ingredient, like teas, breads, salad dressings and BBQ sauces.

That's a highly elastic demand. Honey goes up $1/pound, and it's corn syrup with ADM honey flavor powder in those products. People will get over it.

Bee spit has hit the fan?

goeken 2009-10-30 09:45:19 AM
I averaged 40 to 50 pounds per hive 500 pounds total but I only have 12 hives. I will say it was a lot better than last year, but I also had a lot better locations than last year. When I went to South Dakota fishing earlier this summer I saw a lot of hives with two deep supers on them one deep holds 50 to 60 pounds, so I assume they did a little better their then what the report is saying.

In all seriousness, the price of honey does seem to have gone way up. I was looking for some to throw in tea for a sore throat and was amazed to see that even the supermarket brand was over $4 for 12 oz.

Send lawyers guns and honey. Dad, get me some damn bees.
