I wonder why.

By doing this, our web host somehow wiped out the ones that were posted.

This is me believing you.

I said it that day and I'll say it again: It's not the crime, it's the coverup!

But it's not like we can go around and grab all the copies of our paper from the stores, newsstands and people's homes. It's not easy have your mistakes on display for thousands of people to see - and then have them archived for future generations to see (and laugh at).

You got that right.

I'm glad there was a follow up I was having trouble sleeping.

Glad to see that their lesson is learned and they're now a beacon of journalistic excellence as evidenced by
this article.

Fark is basically a site that deals with "news that really isn't news". I have to admit - the photo fell into that category.

At least she's honest.

Maybe it's a systemic problem.
FTA:

Some of you may have noticed unusually high numerous views of a photo from a recent edition in our OCT 20 edition. This photo was of featured a traffic stop on Joslen Boulevard in Greenport.; And that's basically all the caption said. Unfortunately(,) the city editor and the reporter who took the photo failed to include any other information, including such as the recent discussions at the Town Board meetings regarding the numerous complaints about speeding, etc. or the recent redesign of the intersection of Joslen and Harry Howard Avenue, which was seen in the background.

To say that this was an embarrassing display of a lack of newsworthiness is an understatement. Our photographer was on vacation(;) and when this occurs, reporters are to
typically fill in the gap by taking pictures as well as writing stories. Granted, they are not always the best photos, but they (usually) have a point to them. This photo made it look like we were just filling space - and did it doing so quite poorly.

I sent an e-mail to both the reporter and city editor explaining that simply adding some background information to the caption would have given the photo some value.

But then the day got worse....

The photo was posted on Fark.com. For those of you unfamiliar with the site, "it is a news aggregator and an edited social networking news site." The site relies on submissions from its readership. And apparently, someone submitted the photo. Ugh.

Fark is basically a site that deals with "news that really isn't news". I have to admit
(it) - the photo fell into that category. There were thousands of views and comments. Some were funny. Some were nasty. But thenEventually, enough was enough. We let people comment all day long on the photo but then it came time to bring the fun to an end and we stopped approving comments. By In doing this, our web host somehow wiped out the ones that were posted previous posts.

We can laugh at ourselves. After all, sometimes that is all you can do. Well, that and work harder to do better for
in the next edition. But it'sIt's not like we can go around and grab all the copies of our paper from the stores, newsstands and people's homes. Truth be told, it was one that should have already been learned(just can't revive this awful sentence).

But I do promise that we are trying to improve every day, even when we don't make a big mistake.
FFS I GIVE UP ON THIS.
