Not really. And MajorityWhip , more like El Nino, not global "warming"...

Storms off the west coast of Mexico near Southern Baja regularly reach Cat 4...they just fizzle out faster than anyone can notice.

Not at all. The west pacific is the most active basin in the world and the east pacific is usually a distant second.

It's not unusual at all to get two or three super typhoons a year (their version of category 5 hurricanes) in the west pac - and a category 5 in the east pac typically happens every few years.

Nah... On avg there's about 1-2 Cat 4+ storms in the Eastern Pacific each year. They very, very rarely hit land at that strength, however.

Hurricane Iniki did it in 1992, and Kenna in 2002. There's probably a few more, but I can't think of them.
