I can barely convey, having seen it at the cinema, how interesting this isn't. Allow me to save you some time:

They all met, discovered a common love of Beyond the Fringe, and wrote sketches. Some of those sketches were very funny, but most of them weren't.

John Cleese was an insufferable arse.

There was controversy over Life of Brian, they argued about blasphemy on a chat show.

John Cleese was an insufferable arse.

Talentless comics have been claiming them as inspiration ever since, and an interview with all of the above is useful filler and saves having to be in the same room as John Cleese.

John Cleese was an insufferable arse.

Graham Chapman died, boo hoo, but none of them were speaking to each other at the memorial. John Cleese said 'shiat' and 'fark'. Twice.

John Cleese was an insufferable arse.

They're old and need the money so they made this show.

John Cleese is an insufferable arse.

The End.

Sorry to hear that it wasn't good but I've watched one of the clips at the site for the show and the two minutes on their origins was pretty interesting.

They're old and need the money so they made this show.

So if they did it for the money, why go to IFC, which has no ads and presumably has little money to pay for the reunion? I see that IFC is owned by Cablevision, but how does Cablevision make money off this? I presume they didn't do it because "they're all big fans".

I just watched the stream of last night's show, with about a half hour of the Pythons answering questions. It's worth watching.

I thought John Cleese was well behaved and pretty funny, as were they all (except Graham). I don't know where all the Cleese hate came from in the Boobies. (Boobies, are you the ex-Mrs. Cleese or one of her friends/employees/lawyers?)

insufferable arse or not, Cleese is still funny as hell.

Cleese created a very believable, hatable persona.

Monty Python films are weak. They all get one point for originality but zero for humor.

Try coming up with something funny.

It's amazing that Monty Python can be overexposed decades after they were originally famous. Between Spamalot, this and Eric Idle's Monty Python re-enactment show (horrible description, but I don't know what else to call it) I'm kind of sick of hearing about these old guys.

I am not a looney! Why should I be tied with the epithet looney merely because I have a pet halibut? I've heard tell that Sir Gerald Nabardo has a pet prawn called Simon and you wouldn't call him a looney; furthermore, Dawn Pailthorpe, the lady show-jumper, had a clam, called Stafford, after the late Chancellor, Allan Bullock has two pikes, both called Chris, and Marcel Proust had an haddock! So, if you're calling the author of 'A la recherche du temps perdu' a looney, I shall have to ask you to step outside!

Pretty funny interview with some of the Pythons. I liked their discussion of the "punch line". Bonus: Always Look on the Bright Side closes the show.

Attempting to appeal to the masses defeats the very concept of originality. You get a zero for logical thinking. But then, maybe that's why you don't like Python.

Aren't there at least THREE definitive Python documentaries already? How many ways are there to tell the same stories?

I love Python, but we've heard this one before.

Who tells the Graham Chapman "Tell them we're Jewish!" story this time?

Frankly I can't imagine anything post "MoL" will ever top Cleese kicking over the urn of ashes on the Aspen panel - impeccably timed and tasteless and perfect.
