I like Obama and I need to have someone convince me...

was the pool of candidates thin?

nich0lai [recently expired TotalFark] 2009-10-09 08:46:35 AM
For once that was better than my headline.

An hour ago Fox News said Obama didn't deserve it because he supported turning the Taliban into a legitimate political party and he pals around with Oprah.

/that doesn't sound racist does it?

OldScotch [TotalFark] 2009-10-09 08:46:37 AM

I don't have to go to their site to see the Freeper reaction to this. A couple of friends of mine are borderline teabaggers and they're champing at the bit waiting for the political fallout.

T-Servo 2009-10-09 08:46:41 AM
I wonder if he'll get to speak at Arizona State now?

JerseyTim [TotalFark] 2009-10-09 08:46:42 AM
Damn you, ACORN! Is there no election you can't rig?

wow, has anyone received a bigger award just for being black?

topcon 2009-10-09 08:47:10 AM
I don't dislike Obama, but this makes little sense, as it's already been said in about every news story, and as it will be said in 500 more comments after me.

He hasn't done enough in office yet to warrant this.

ciocia [TotalFark] 2009-10-09 08:47:10 AM
It also ties him to Henry Kissinger. I'm not sure who is more disreputable.

stebain 2009-10-09 08:47:10 AM
He has too much on his plate to go bother picking this up

I cant wait to listen to Rush today just to hear his head assplode.

TheKnownUniverse [TotalFark] 2009-10-09 08:47:21 AM
Is this where we copy our posts from the 160+ comments redlit thread?

Okay, I'll go first. I'm pretty sure the Nobel Committee is one of the greatest IRL trolls ever, and they just did this for the lulz.

When I first heard, I thought it was a joke. Then I found out it was real, and it's still a joke.

11 days in office?

Babwa Wawa [TotalFark] 2009-10-09 08:47:32 AM
If he had any self respect, he would decline it until he actually did something to achieve peace. Somewhere.

//Thanks for not being Bush award

Tatsuma [TotalFark] 2009-10-09 08:47:35 AM
Brilliant headline.

Still, I have to ask: what the fark did he ever do to deserve that so soon during his presidency?

What a joke.

rogue49 2009-10-09 08:47:38 AM
Oh, much better than mine.
definite lol

Jairzinho 2009-10-09 08:47:46 AM

hahaha this is going to be an entertaining thread

Great headline subby...epic thread ahead

JerseyTim [TotalFark] 2009-10-09 08:47:52 AM

I've never been more excited to listen to talk radio. I don't think Obama deserves this, but just hearing Steve Malzberg's head explode live on the air will make it worth it.

stebain 2009-10-09 08:47:54 AM

"spray 'em with the garden hose" linked

Internet Superhero 2009-10-09 08:47:55 AM
I guess you don't even need a birth certificate to win one of those things.

naepunkt 2009-10-09 08:47:56 AM
That headline was teh win. Good job subby.

Ice Pirate 2009-10-09 08:47:58 AM
Waited an hour for the story to go green. Headline was well worth the wait.

Mr. Right 2009-10-09 08:48:09 AM
This should surprise no one. Obama's whole life has been an unbroken succession of rewards based on his ideals with no background of accomplishment.

way south 2009-10-09 08:48:11 AM
You win this time subby...

On a more serious note: Getting elected whilst being black is noteworthy, but is it prize worthy?

You know, compared to people who've done stuff.

Krymson Tyde 2009-10-09 08:48:12 AM
Okay, I voted for him and I think he's doing a pretty good job, especially considering the hand he was dealt, but someone should tell the Nobel people you never go full retard.

eraser8 2009-10-09 08:48:18 AM
I'm a bit surprised by this award. Obama's not who I would have chosen. I don't think he's done much to deserve it.

But all of that pales in comparison to my glee at seeing right wingnut heads ASPLODE at this news!

They cheered America's loss of the Olympics. I'd bet my left nut they'll boo America's win of the Nobel Prize.

DigitalSorceress 2009-10-09 08:48:21 AM
Submitted this one as well... but with much less witty headline... in fact, no wit at all if I'm honest.

/well played subby
//I LOLed

Agent19 2009-10-09 08:48:21 AM
Considering the nominations were due only 3 weeks after he was sworn in, I'd say he worked really, really, really, REALLY hard for it, and his recognition for his 3 weeks of work was long overdue.

MacEnvy [TotalFark] 2009-10-09 08:48:25 AM
I've heard this a couple times this morning, but I think we can all agree that he deserves this for preventing Sarah Palin from ascending to the White House.

dogdaze [TotalFark] 2009-10-09 08:48:28 AM
Glenn Beck should be amusing to watch on this.

Lawnchair 2009-10-09 08:48:29 AM
Ackbarican_Idol: I didn't even know he was nominated

The nomination process is pretty informal. Usually dozens of names tossed in the hat. Not shocking that he'd be nominated by someone.

pup.socket 2009-10-09 08:48:39 AM
It is the peace, not the physics, so, apparently, anything goes.

koreakatz 2009-10-09 08:48:44 AM
This is just .... well, Huh?

I like Obama.
I respect Obama.
I would have voted for him if I was American.

But this is off the charts dumb. He hasn't done anything yet.

Are we giving awards for "hope for the future" now?
