I swear, you people disgust me. How can you be so insensitive about such a horrible thing? That's so terrible that I...Uhhh...

What was I saying?

The great thing about alzheimer's is you get to meet new people every day.

"Oh, how nice to meet you! You're my daughter you say?"

Bill_Wick's_Friend 2003-03-14 05:57:00 PM
Avril Lavigne can do that? Wow...talk about multi-talented.

Ah, but still no cure for France.

Excellent, now I will be able to die of liver disease with all my faculties present, rather than gradually fading into oblivion and living out my final 10 years in a $3000 a month nursing home.

Okay, let's see:

Asprin greatly reduces deaths from heart disease when small amounts are taken regularly.

Ibuprofen (Advil one brand name) helps prevent/cure Alzheimer's syndrome.

However, taking even small amounts of ibuprofen cancels the effect of the asprin.

Therefore: Take asprin and get alzheimers as you age, or take ibuprofen and die of heart trouble. You must choose one...

Congrats, Neelb420 for the first use of this cliche.

now cut it out. it's already tired.

(tired? try a refreshing dr pepper)

Alzheimers is hereditary. My grandmother had it, my father had it, and if you ask my wife, she'll be quick to say I show signs of it too. I swear by Aleve for my chronic backpain, but who knows if it's helping anything else.

They used to suggest that aluminum from cans can actually accelerate alzheimers, or even cause it in some cases. I drink Mt. Dew virtually nonstop, and always from a can.. Maybe they're cancelling each other out?

I dunno'...

I used to get incredibly painful migraines regularly. I still get them, just not that often. I tried several expensive perscriptions that did nothing even when I took them as soon as I felt one beginning. Advil kills it within 5 minutes, even if I let it go on for an hour.

I love that shiat.

Hey.. did I tell you guys..?

I dunno'... I'd love to be involved in that test they're doing. Worst thing about alzheimers is that it's not constant. My friend's grandmother used to "snap out of it" and beg me to kill her because of how screwed-up she was acting. That's kinda' weird to deal with when yer like 12 years old.

I dunno' if I've actually got alzheimers.. it may have been drug use when I was a kid, it'd be nice to find out though, so I can try and make plans and stuff, to minimize the future burden.

An outrage! STILL no cure for... uhh... cancer...

puffy999 [TotalFark] 2003-03-14 11:17:53 PM
My grandpa died from Alzheimers. It was really sad to see him essentially lose his sanity (and life) when I was too young to really understand what was happening (or will happen) to him.
He thought he could walk from our home back to his home (which was about 200 miles away) one night, and he kept trying to leave.

um...uh...er.....

PaulZ108 2003-03-15 11:59:58 AM
I'm glad there's no history of it in my family. My great grandmother lived to be 98 and was sane until the day she died and my grandparents are now over 80 and are still active and sane.

That would depend on your family history, basically. Choose the course which seems most likely to happen.
Advil is good stuff, it's not codeine, but it kept me from going nutso one night with a tootheache, after every store was closed. Be careful not to overdose though, I remember awhile back hearing a story of a Seattle Seahawk football player who ended his career by overdosing on tylenol.
Gave him kidney damaged, IIRC.
