Locals speculate that recent thunderstorms may have spooked the animals.

I'd bet there was a lot of fog on the mountainside or visibility was really poor - then came a loud crack of thunder...and cow pizza.

Obviously distraught Ted Kennedy fans.

Suicide. Tasty tasty suicide.

I wonder if they enjoyed their weightless, windswept moment?

No need for Adolph's. Meat is pre-tenderized.

Having grown up in Montana, I've been around a lot of cows. They're among the dumbest creatures on the planet. They are generally skittish, but often calm and docile if you don't try to freak them out.

That being said, if they get into a panic they WILL jump off a farking cliff. Or they'll run so close to it that they're not paying attention to their footing. They're that stupid.

Their stupidity is probably the main reason why we make them into Big Macs and Whoppers.

Yep...cows are stupid, but 30 over a cliff in a week seems excessive. Cow tippers around the area? Or is Farmer John to lazy to go to the top of the mountain? They will thunder toward food. So maybe he leaves a couple of bales of alfalfa at the bottom of the cliff...If you make it, you eat. Maybe Farmer John has great insurance and is looking to moving into town.

I don't like Farmer John.

Slightly below the treeline. They do best in the transition zone between taiga and tundra.

I was walking in the Alps area of Appenzell/Jakobsbad yesterday in Switzerland. There are a lot of cows wondering around in the high country there. They were very docile and would allow you to walk right up to them and give them a scratch or a pet. They all had bells around their necks and when the breeze was blowing across the valley, it sounded like wind chimes from all the bells.
/my first experience walking in the Alps
//No cow tipping on this journey
///Seen no dead cows

So, got to thinking after that post. With all those cow bells clanging around, that would make those 'splatting' a bunch of dead ringers of cow pie?

Just thinking out loud.

I disagree. Last time I was in Fuddrucker's, the piles of dead cow smelled quite tantalizing. Not everyone can be expected to have good taste, though.

I haven't been to a Fuddrucker's in years but if they've switched to grilling gooey 9-month-old meat scraped off rock piles I'm not sure I'll ever return. I don't eat animals that look like a 2-D version of their former selves.
