This is why we can't have funny sitcoms.

Have any of the "victims" sued Seinfeld yet for corrupting the world in such a heinous fashion?

"It's the second case of an Iowan being fired for harassment stemming from an episode of the popular comedy series."
I'm glad we apparently have a registry for Sienfeld-related crimes.

I'm betting he was fired for continually e-mailing her and stopping her in the hallway and massaging her. What episode of Seinfeld was that from?

The guy was a moran, plain and simple. He thought the Seinfeld joke was a good opening, and kept harassing her. Not the show's fault at all.

I'm surprised that we haven't seen more assault charges connected to the Feats of Strength.

To be fair, the headline says he was fired for harassment after repeating a Seinfeld joke, not because of repeating a Seinfeld joke.

The article did mention that he gave her a shoulder rub at some point after making those comments. I know where I work that would be crossing the line.

I think if the female co-worker was a friend or even a decent acquaintance, and he explained the Seinfeld joke, it'd probably be no big deal. But the shoulder rub in the hallway is where the line was crossed, IMHO.

Was that wrong? Should I not have done that? I tell you, I gotta plead ignorence on this thing, because if anyone had said anything to me at all when I first started here that that sort of thing is frowned upon... you know, cause I've worked in a lot of offices, and I tell you, people do that all the time.

You know who else inappropriately massaged a coworker?

The real story here is at the very end where some guy got fired for sexual harassment and then was awarded 26.5 million dollars in the counter suit.

Man fired for harassment after repeating a Seinfeld Joke not knowing any more jokes.

Sounds more like the "I Choo-Choo-Choose You!" effect. Guy shares joke with girl in a group setting, gets creepily attached to that joke, girl terror ensues. Imagine Jim and Pam, if Jim kept repeating the same prank every day while staring at Pam. Would women across the nation still have a crush on him?

But he had to take the judge out for a meal. Not just soup either. Soup isn't a meal.

Of course, the article goes on the point out that the gag had absolutely nothing to do with his firing. It was the basis for his initial unwanted contact. If he'd STFU and GBTW at that time, he wouldn't have been fired. He was fired for continuing to make inappropriate contact in entirely different ways over an extended period.

RTFA...in all of the cases they bring up the guy wasn't fired for simply repeating a 'Seinfeld' gag, it was for pursuing a female coworker via email or some other means and for making inappropriate physical advances...why a sitcom is even mentioned is disingenuous at best.

Until last month, I worked in a male dominated field. Several of the guys were sitting around telling dirty jokes. So I thought I'd join in, with this little gem:

Q: What's the difference between love, true love, and showing off?
A: Spitting, swallowing, and gargling

For the next few weeks, I had to deal with guys repeating the joke to the ones who weren't there, asking me if I gargled, telling me how hot it was that I gargled (which I don't, 'cause - that's just a little much for me), and giving me those "I'm undressing you with my eyes" up and down looks. Never mind that my joke was in the same vein as theirs were - I told a dirty joke, so I must be a slut. After a few weeks, I finally said, "Okay, guys, that's enough" which they apparently interpreted as "I'm gonna tell on you!" So then I got threats about sabotaging my work to get me fired.

I will never tell another joke like that at work. I don't care if they think I'm a prude, it's better than the alternative.

I tried reading the article but it was in Glamour. I was alone.
