...she "was upset at the program for not properly caring for her child and decided it was necessary to drive her children to the program. ... A few minutes after her departure, defendant Achumba felt a shove from the rear of the Odyssey, and it was lifted into the air."

Didn't like how her kids were being treated, so she drove them into a farking tornado?
You just cannot make up shiat like that. People that full of fail are beyond any ability to suspend disbelief long to make shiat like that up.

People from Prince George's County. Say no more. When and where was this supposed to have happened by the way? The article is very sparse on details and is very confusing.

The father says he warned his wife - a defendant - not to go to the "back to school night" because there was a tornado warning, but she "was upset at the program for not properly caring for her child and decided it was necessary to drive her children to the program. ...

Huh? Back to school night is a program that is supposed to care for your child?

I live in the DC area and don't recall hearing anything on the news for years about injuries from a tornado in Prince George's County. A Google search shows the last tornadoes there were in April 2008, but April is not when gets go back to school. Also it doesn't mention any injuries, especially a girl losing her eye. Furthermore the tornadoes happened on a Sunday afternoon between 2pm and 3pm. Not on a weeknight. So I'm very confused....more than usual.

After these twits lose their civil suit, they should placed in irons in the town square so the entire community can kick them in the face repeatedly.

How many cars have laminated side windows?

Snarfangel [TotalFark] 2009-08-14 05:21:51 PM
I just realized that my car completely failed to prevent the acceleration of gravity after I drove over a cliff.

Off to the courthouse!

aarond12 2009-08-14 05:29:22 PM
I don't think any production vehicles have laminated side windows. I wonder how much this would add to the price of a car?

You know, there's nothing in my owner's manual that says my car *isn't* fully submersible, but that doesn't mean I think I should test it out.

And they should have to pay all of Honda's legal fees. Every penny. And the lawyer who agreed to represent them should have to share in the costs.

In fact, I think that's the way to deal with frivolous lawsuits. If your suit gets thrown out as being a total waste of the court's time, the plaintiff's lawyer gets to pay half of the defense's legal fees. See just how fast the lawyers tell people like this to get bent.

It doesn't say it isn't fully rectally insertable either. I definitely think someone needs to check that out.

I don't know if that would be such a good idea. The first thing he'd do is fly to America and test the tornado resistance of various supercars at 155mph.

No, I take that back- this IS a good idea. It would be the single greatest episode of Top Gear ever filmed.

He could at least try putting that Hilux through a tornado. He already proved it IS fully submersible.

31 million reasons why this may go further than we think (new window)

There is a link in there to the NHTSA report on laminated v. safety glass, and they found it's unclear which type would be safest.

So if manufacturers use laminated glass, they can get sued by people who were unable to get out of the car quickly. If they use safety glass, they can get sued by people who get hit by pieces or ejected from the car while not wearing a safety belt.

It's like a lawyer's wet dream.

Obviously Honda should have paid the extra $500 per car for pre-sale interviews of potential customers. "Are you a lawyer? Do you know a lawyer? Do you or your family members have a habit of driving drunk or driving into deadly storms? Do you intend to put children in this car?"

I'm sorry, you can't prevent stupid. It's not Honda's fault that this idiot decided to drive her van into a tornado. It's hers. All the safety equipment in the world isn't gonna save you from a twister.

"All it can"? Please define this for me. No matter how many safety improvements they add to a car they could always add more. A line has to be drawn, why do you believe the line is being drawn in the wrong place by the entire industry?

I'm surprised she didn't add God as a defendant... ya know, for throwing a tornado at her car.
