To be fair, two decades ago, gays mostly met in underground clubs. "Openly gay" didn't exist. While I think it's some hyperbole, the analogy isn't entirely inaccurate.

I thought somebody tried to say atheists were the "new gays"? I thought I saw a study that indicated people were much more likely to elect a homosexual to office than an atheist.

Two decades ago? Yes "openly gay" most certainly DID exist. Even in a small city in the South, it existed two decades ago.

The place pays property taxes. Their clients probably don't block driveways or park in yards. The place doesn't generate noise that can be heard outside. It beats a mega-church!

As someone who just went to a swinger party Saturday night in an upscale, suburban DC neighborhood, I'm really getting a kick out of these replies.
