The first Iron Man was a solid superhero movie. Add in Mickey Rourke and drunken banter with parrots, and you've got an instant candidate for Best Picture.

Okay, maybe not. But it should be.

I think Rourke just transcended mere acting and went straight for sublime awesomeness.

Hell, I do that almost every night.

So Scarlett in a tight bodysuit, Rourke getting drunk and yelling at his parrot, and Downey Jr farking every hot ass on screen?

Best. Movie. Ever.

"He let me have a cockatoo"

Wow. I would never have guessed Mickey swung that way.

Well, if anyone can get drunk and yell at a parrot well, it's Mickey Rourke.

WhileAmericaBurns: Who cares about Iron Man 2?

The first one made $585,133,287 worldwide. So maybe a few people care about a sequel.

WhileAmericaBurns: Who cares about Iron Man 2?

The movie made close to $600 million worldwide and another $160 million on DVD, so...a lot of people, I would assume. And, unlike a certain giant robot movie, it actually got good reviews.

With 10 nominees for best picture now, it's not so far fetched.

I for one do.

I put Iron Man in with the new Star Trek film.
The next films in both series are going to be farking great.

I was already pretty sure they were going to get my money on a sequel, now it's guaranteed.

I've been using that joke for years.

"You know (insert name of person) likes birds? He's been known to kiss a cockatoo."

I refuse to take seriously any movie with Scar Jo. biatch can't act, period.

That's what mainstream superhero movies need. Weird, quirky shiat. And an ending that's different from the heroine being tied to railroad tracks waiting for the hero to win the final duel and save her.

I'm moderately excited about Iron Man 2, but the new trailer for District 9 (new window) just came out, so I'm all crazy-pumped for that movie.

So Mickey Rourke is playing Gary Busey in Iron Man 2?

authenticryan 2009-07-16 06:31:58 PM
Okay, question about the photo of Mickey in the whiplash costume... The captions I've seen say he's at the Monaco Grand Prix. Anybody know if the GP features in the movie somehow, or did the studio actually have Mickey put the thing on to walk up the track at the last race for publicity's sake?

I'd lean heavily towards the first answer, but after the ridiculous Revenge of the Sith saturation George Lucas put into the same GP a couple years ago (stormtrooper costumes on the red Bull pit crew, Vader wandering around) I just can't be sure.

Or, as Mickey often calls it, Thursday.

Not a world I want to live in, that's for goddamned sure.

Was there a thread about SJ in her Black Widow outfit? I figured there would be, and I wanted to RyanJack it, but somehow I either missed it or it hasn't been greenlit yet. I'd feel weird doing it in this thread, but I've RuddJacked for less.

Scarlett is going to be the most monotone, deadpan Black Widow EVER.

Ponzholio 2009-07-16 08:29:21 PM
So Iron Man 2 is going to be a documentary?

Beerguy 2009-07-16 08:36:40 PM
I just finished watching Iron Man again and I was thinking, "you know what this needs?, it needs some drunken Mickey Rourke"

Also, you can add Scarlett to just about anything (except maybe Shadow Of The Wolf) and it becomes better, so this is a win win :)

Rourke is and always has been farking awesome. I mean, even his bombs are fun to watch.

Homeboy, FTW and Bullet are some of favorites.

Okay, Now we have a Whiplash photo up.

Now the one person who does not like Rourke,

4.bp.blogspot.com

Hacksaw Jim Duggan was walking in a hallway where his apartment was at during the last Wrestlemania. Hacksaw was not wearing his glasses. A guy was walking down dead center of the hallway not moving at all for him. Hacksaw said "Got enough room there pal?" Rourke was the guy. With two bodyguards behind him, he said "You don't talk to me like that!"

So Hacksaw does not respect Rourke. HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
