Totally. Pretty soon tourists will be visiting the Siemens Gate in Berlin, the Peugeot Tower in Paris and the Westinghouse Monument in Washington DC. And you'll be paying your parking tickets at the local WalMart County Courthouse.

If something is named after a historical person, war, president or whatever I agree. If the name of a building is a gigantic advert then who cares if the next corporation that moves in wants to change it.

My company renamed Citigroup Center in NYC to 601 Lexington Avenue. The weird thing is it's physical address is 153 East 53rd Street.

odinsposse: I honestly can't get too worked up about this. The Sears Tower was named for its corporate owner Sears, Roebuck and Co. Now it's been renamed for it's new corporate owner Willis Group Holdings. That doesn't seem like a huge desecration of history to me.

Its not the new Corporate Owner, its just a large tenant. They bought the rights along with the space. The leasing company was desperate in this economy to sell the space so they offered it as a bonus.
