Matthew Stafford, anyone?

It's funny, because the Lions were an inferior football team in 2008, and nobody who likes the Lions would want to relive it.

mainstreet62 [TotalFark] 2009-07-16 02:10:45 PM
Maybe everyone else in the NFC North wanted to relive that season.

I think the overall attitude of the staff and team is good so far this year. I'll give them 4 wins at most.

God, the 2008 Detroit Lions. I doubt even NFL Films could make them look good, and NFL Films will sucker you in every single time.

If you're a Jets or Dolphins fan, that was the highlight of the past decade for you.

When the Lions go 4-12 this year it'll make Stafford look awesome.

/not really, Culpepper will likely play most of the games

Not so much basketball right now, since the Pistons seem to be heading into a rebuilding phase. The Tigers are first in their division, though, and the Wings had a damn good run this year.

Yeah, even the Voice of God (RIP) wouldn't have anything to work with.

Does it really matter who's marketing department made the ad? A website has to be responsible for the ads it hosts.

amoricanCrowe 2009-07-16 02:20:09 PM
I used to love watching the NFL Films individual team highlight films that re-capped each season. Growing up a Seahawks fan and suffering through many 4-12, 6-10 seasons, it was always a great testament to how they could make an utterly shiatty team look like they werethisclose to making it to the Super Bowl.

That said, I don't think that there is any way you could polish the turd that was the 2008 Detroit Lions.

No they don't. shiat, just look at some of Farks ads. Drew even said he has no control over them.

S.A.S.Q.U.A.T.C.H.: You better be a hockey fan if you live in Detroit.

Why do you think its called Hockeytown?

Perhaps the "Relive the season" is targeted at fans that hate the Lions?

Jubeebee 2009-07-16 02:28:58 PM
Klippoklondike: I will put myself on the line and predict 4-12 this year

I've been saying 3-13 since about February, but I could see 4-12. Enough wins so that the fans aren't rooting for losses, but enough losses to deliver that familiar hopelessness.

This is a valid point. They tend to really describe the unmitigated heroics and execution in the high points, gloss over the low points but somehow still translate the low points into hope for next season. You now have me really curious as to what the 2008 Lions NFL films video will look like. Maybe they just skip the whole 2008 season and highlight "new coach" and "new QB".

Nah, its on every team's official website. I mean, why else would the same ad be on the Bengals website?

/I had the same thought, "Why would I want to relive last year? It sucked!"

Why would anyone but Steeler fans want to relive last season??? "Oh man, that was a great season until that final game, I want to watch every game, 'cause my team played so great until the end...too bad they dropped that last game!"

You sound fat.

Dman33 2009-07-16 03:04:45 PM
My bet is on 3-13 as well. 4-12 is possible because I like what they have been doing with the defense. The offense will be terrible, but there is a glimpse of hope that Culpepper will have more than 1.2 seconds to get a pass off. Calvin Johnson.... poor guy. He would be a superstar on any other team.

I would love to see 0-32 but something tells me they will be just good enough to squeak out a few wins. Then all the idiot fans will fill the seats so Ford Sr can 'stay the course'. Maybe he will bring Millen back?

Mr. Right 2009-07-16 03:09:03 PM
Compared to Granholm, the Lions are a success. They didn't get the unemployment rate over 15%.

You thought real lions have an advertising department and SPORTS are dumb?

I think a football has more common sense than you.
