I am fairly certain a police officer would be all too willing to offer me a ride after I robbed a bank. Seems a great idea, depending on where one is going.

Undercover cops exist. You've got the worst streak of bad luck and idiocy that the person you ask to haul you away from the crime scene is one. Time to just give up and accept that crime just isn't going to pay off well for you. Enjoy prison!
