ASlyLittleFox: No seriously, just think about it for a minute - if he gets a second term, and three years in, the economy starts to recover (I know it's wishful thinking, leave me alone), and then he gets up and says "You know what? I AM a Muslim now." Would be the biggest "fark you" to right-wing fundies ever; the only way to top that would be if he did that and then immediately turned around and made out with Rush's mom.

If he wanted to give an even bigger "fark you" to the right-wing fundies, he'd convert to atheism.

so you're butthurt about something that happened centuries ago?

you're worse than the idiots who ask current admins of assorted nations to apologise for what their forefathers did many moons ago

illogical morons like you need to be shackled and ridiculed along with fundies

Sooo.... he is a secret Ra worshiper?

ASlyLittleFox 2009-07-12 04:38:38 AM
NEDM: No. Because that might be the thing that motivates the potential snipers to get off their fat asses.

Sure, but what's a horrific national tragedy next to a really good 'your mom' joke?

Besides, too many people in this country have too many retarded ideas about Islam. After the initial shock, once people realize that a Muslim president isn't driving the country into the ground, Islam may finally get some decent press on this side of the Atlantic, which would do leagues of good towards reducing the ignorance and xenophobia towards the religion. Could you imagine? A world where everyone on the other side of the planet isn't seen as some kind of infidel sub-human?

But also it would be a really good 'your mom' joke.

You forgot that Jesus descended into Hell after his crucifiction to lead the Jews who died before he was born into Heaven.

Not really he wasn't. He wasn't raised in the faith at all. Being born to a Moslem father doesn't really mean jack when that father ups and leaves so early on. Also, Obama isn't entirely liked by the Chicago pols. He went straight for state office then the US Senate. No local political office at all. On top of it no political appointments.

That belief is part of the reason fundies aren't liked amongst other christians. Who decides which aspect of Christianity is the "right" one?

Personally, though, I believe that the virtuous non-believers also get into heaven. I mean, while Buddhist monks don't believe in God, they are doing God's work. And preaching God's message(Peace and love towards your fellow man).

As a devout Eastern Orthodox, people like that really irk me. They scream and rail against other people while ignoring the tenements of the religion that they are using as the high ground. Yeah, but you've got to remember that you don't get into the news if you're not an asshole. Just because the only Christians we hear about are the Westbourough baptists doesn't mean that all - or even a majority of - Christians are fundamentalist, hate-driven, whackjobs. In fact, off the internet, I've found that the people I know who follow a Faith tend to be better people in general. (Though possibly that's because Im in an area full of hyper-liberal and overly-aggressive atheists, so who knows.)

Just remember, there's a segment of christians who hate their association with the right-wing extremists just as much as most of us hated being associated with the actions of BushCo.

I am fully aware of that (hence the "most vocal segments" part of my comment). My own impression is that there's generally an inverse relationship between how loudly one proclaims one's beliefs and how closely one truly adheres to them.

The name skookum may be derived from Skookumchuck River. Whidbey's own name comes from Whidbey Island. Both are geographical places within Washington State.

Maybe somebody thought that the two are linked because of those similarities.

It's less subtle than that. I think last election season, whidbey (who is slightly to the left of Mao) made a post as himself under skookum (who is slightly to the right of Ann Coulter).

So, basically, he accidentally outed himself. Same as McCainDemocrat/danlpoon (who famously replied to an inquiry as to his whereabouts with "I'm traveling"), save for the fact that the 'poon is an actual right-winger.
