I did that as a child.
I did that so many times that when I was in college, and the Coast Guard called my family to let them knoiw I was missing at sea, they said thanks, but let us know if you find a body, before yo call us again.
I called them 15 minutes later to let them know I was safe, and on land, and in a bar.

See, parents, this is what happens when you worship your kids: they go missing for one hour and you call the police and the fire department and waste everybody thousands of dollars. Don't worship your kids.

New "hide and seek world champion"? Or not, I guess, since she was finally found. Who's got that picture?

Let's ban everything thing that frightens us, confuses us, or we fail at. It's the American Way.

Lighten up, I'm sure certain things are banned in your house too. Nobody said to ban hide n seek for the whole world.

I gotta wonder how shiat like this makes the news. Did someone at the fire department phone up the news office? 'Channel Six? I gotta helluva scoop for ya!'

A man calls one of his employees to see why he hasn't come in to work yet. A child answers the phone in a whisper. "hello".
Man- Hi, is your daddy there.
Child- Yes, but he can't come to the phone.
Man- Is your mother there?
Child- Yes, but she can't come to the phone either.
Man- Is there anyone else there?
Child- Yes, there are some policeman.
Man- Policeman?
Child- And some fireman.
Man- (Very concerned) There are policeman and fireman there? What are they doing.
Child- (Giggling) Looking for me. I'm hiding in the closet.

A similar thing happened to me when I was a little kid. I hid myself up underneath one of those headboards with the cupboards on it on to a wooden platform from a water bed. I fell asleep there. For six hours. My mom didn't call the cops but she did have the neighbors searching high and low for me. I eventually came out after I woke up and everyone was freaking out. 25 years later and my parents still have NO idea where the he11 I was hiding. Haha.

At least she didn't get IN the dryer to hide. There was a very sad story about that recently; the child suffocated.

Actually, it's a good thing they didn't open the washing machine. She might or might not have been alive until they opened the door.

One time during Youth group at my church (don't flame me) we were playing ghosts in the graveyard and due to a random accident my hand went through a plate glass window, did unspeakable damage to my hand/wrist and sent blood everywhere. This was about 8 years ago and I have it on good word that the game still has yet too be played again.

/so I'm getting a kick...
//almost got the church kicked off of its insurance and it had to do some 'upkeep' to stay on
///have a cool scar and became a bit of a legend at the church, so that's good, right?

Hide & seek doesn't lose kids, sleepy kids lose themselves.

You can have my hide & seek when you pry it out from behind the big box of Christmas ornaments sitting in the corner of the basement. You know, the one with all the packing tape on it.

Okay - this is interesting to me because one of the things I do when the SO and I play the hide and seek game is think "Where could the SO be hiding?". I know all the nooks and crannies in the house so it's easy.

Something tells me the parents aren't too bright.

Perhaps I'm becoming a softy in my old age, but perhaps we should try it with the cat first.

My youngest brother went missing one day when he was about 4. My older brother & I were home watching him. We were playing Atari in the living room (gives you an idea how long ago this was) and before we started playing, he had been in his room playing. An hour later, I passed by his room & he wasn't there. Called him & didn't get an answer. We turned the house upside down, went banging on neighbors' doors, hopped the fence in one yard we knew had a pool. Jesus, we were frantic. Finally called our parents & then the police.

Cops got there in record time and started searching the house. Nothing. Mom came home and was a nervous wreck. More cops came to help search the neighborhood. FINALLY the one cop who'd stayed in the house found him. He was under the laundry pile in the basement. He had been looking for his stuffed rabbit that was in the wash and fallen asleep in the pile of clothes.

I don't care if we overreacted, just as some say this family did. You're always better erring on the side of caution.

My nephew "went missing" when he was two. My family called the cops and it turned out he was just in a corner in the kitchen with the lights out. That's right, not even under or in anything.

My family, ladies and gentlemen: Too stupid to turn on the freaking lights.
