The fanboy in me still wants to see Nathan Fillion in the role (not that I ever really expected that to happen), but this seems like a good choice. He's got the look down for Hal Jordan, and he's actually capable of acting.

Bonus: this means that Jack Black didn't get the role.

Ryan Reynolds is a cool guy and very geeky. He wants to do a Deadpool movie and he won't have anything to do with it unless it has no connection to the Wolverine movie and is done right.

I really like the guy and I hope he makes it. We need a good action hero again, and he could very well be this generation's Bruce Willis if he plays his cards right.

I don't see him as Hal Jordan, but he's miles above Justin farking Timberlake. So yeah, he would rock.

So, what you guys are saying is, Ryan Reynolds was the best 3 minutes you had?

Is it just me, or do Ryan Reynold's front teeth when he talks kind of make him look a little bit like a rodent? Don't get me wrong, it's an attractive rodent, but still, once I noticed it, that's all I see now.

portnoyd 2009-07-11 07:32:14 AM
The submitter was probably referring to Weapon XII, a performance that had absolutely nothing to do with Ryan Reynolds and was truly awful. The Wade Wilson scenes, the aforementioned 3 minutes, were ok, but you can tell that they didn't want a true Wade Wilson stealing the show.

I have faith that Ryan Reynolds will not let this happen without the respect to the original character fashioned by the writers over the years (particularly Kelly, Priest and Simone).

Would not hit... sharp teeth... way below my standards.... :)

Oh, I'd hit it if he wasn't already married to Scarlett Johansson, it's just one of those things where once you see it, you keep noticing it.

If he was playing the Kyle version of Green Lantern (the only good one IMHO) he'd be perfect. I don't see him as Hal Jordan though. Doesn't fit.

He would have been better if he had more than five minutes of screentime and wasn't reduced to a mute for the latter half of the film.

Batman only needs to glare at Guy Gardner to defeat him.

I dunno...I think he can "play" an arsehole well enough to pull off Hal. Kyle's too nice, too cool. Out of the three they were considering, I personally think Bradley Cooper would've nailed the arsehole that is Hal Jordan perfectly.

I can kind of see that, except for the part where Kyle is Hispanic/Irish (I'm remembering that right, right?). But not insurmountable.

And yeah, I know I'm probably never getting a Kyle movie, but that's the GL I want to see.

Magruda 2009-07-11 11:06:10 AM
JosephFinn: And yeah, I know I'm probably never getting a Kyle movie, but that's the GL I want to see.

That's only because the people in charge now are the ones that grew up with Hal. Give it another generation and Hal will go the way of Alan Scott and Jay Garrick. Then the kids will complain that the new guy is not getting the movie.

VaportrailFilms 2009-07-11 11:10:14 AM
Forget the other Hollywood couples, they really need to focus on this one more.

I look forward to seeing him as GL. He generally plays things kinda goofy tho and I always think of Hal Jordan as a pretty serious fellow (though not without a sense of humor). Hopefully he'll take it in that direction.

I wouldn't have any problem with this either. Reynolds seems like a pretty good guy and he was good in Wolverine.

inconnu: He was the best part of Wolverine. I can't wait to see him do Green Lantern and Deadpool.

Well I don't think he can do both. The non-comic reading, movie going, part of the populace would be vastly confused by the same actor playing different characters from different companies.

Given the choice, I hope he goes with Deadpool.

I feel, actually, like I'm being unfair top Ryan Reynolds. I've only seen him in Blade: Trinity (which he was the best part of, though it's not a good movie). I...just want to punch him every time I see a comedy trailer of his. The level of smarm just drives me up the wall.

Hence, why I see him as Guy Gardner, the one DC character everyone wants to punch.

Just be thankful Justin Timberlake didn't get the role
Nathan Fillion during the Firefly era, or maybe even back to Blast From the Past. But he's too old now
Boreanaz is also too old, and was never really right for the part, not much range as an actor, got lucky with angel and bones

Jensen Ackles imo is the best choice
right age, right attitude, and he's really grown as an actor during the Supernatural run

Since there are no women on the Internet, I have to surmise that Ryan Reynolds is a rather popular chap amongst the sodomite community.
Not that there's anything wrong with sodomy, of course.
Some of my best friends are deviants.
