Umm, the owner wasn't really all that heartbroken over the loss, not was he moved to tears over having the bird back.

"When you haven't used it at all it could be one which was going to produce that winner.

"I wasn't very pleased about it. I've lost the odd one or two before, by accident.

Amusing tag is perfect.

"It's unusual for one to fly that distance. Because they are in aviaries, the modern budgies don't fly that far.

Never gonna fall for
Modern budgie - Lives in an aviary
Modern budgie - Seagulls eat them
Modern budgie - Gets saved by a scuba diver
Scuba diver - Names him 'captain'
Scuba diver - Is a chick
Scuba diver - Returns the bird to Michael Peel
Michael Peel - Shows his budgies
Michael Peel - Rings them all
Michael Peel - Blames it on his "partner's" tea

Thanks. Was wondering.

I wonder if it's really the same bird. Not like it was a treasured pet, it was just one of many. I'd guess it isn't too unusual for parakeets to escape.

Pants full of macaroni!!:

And I thought I was going to be clever and obscure by saying it there was a Sky High Percentage that he'd never see the bird again....

So, the story about the scuba diver finding a half dead parakeet made it into the local paper? Where's that Fark thread?
