IRT SFlaxx - That's why I said "apparently," in the photo it looks like he's gawking idiotically, on film, maybe not. If he did gawk like that than he or any man or woman in their forties, regardless of their educational level should be capable of a little more discretion.

Aye. Communication and sociology, thus enjoying this thread immensely.

Seconded. Soon to be grad student for cultural anthropology. Had to read The History of Sexuality Vol. 1 at least four times in undergrad. In anthro, though, I think his time is nearing an end as the go-to obscure high theorist of the moment.

Ima grad student. Reading a lot of Alastair MacIntyre these days. Read a bit of Foucault, mostly in relation to how he took up Nietzsche's "genealogical method" of the history of ideas, especially normative concepts like rationality, etc.

Foucault's not really that crazy, he calls attention to some important things. But, in a word, perspectivalism does not entail relativism.

My hat's off to you. I want to tackle The Order of Things one of these days, but most people I know who've read Foucault have found it quite the challenge, and I am not the best reader. Of course, I have a friend who has been reading Hegel and Heidegger all summer, so maybe I don't know the sanest people. I'm planning to do my Ph.D. in media studies, focusing on popular culture, critical theory, and political communication/ movements.

Structuralism and post-structuralism are falling by the wayside in sociology. Conflict theory is becoming the new paradigm. Strangely, I had this same conversation with colleagues while drunk a couple of nights ago.

There's nothing to infer. Facts are facts.

The facts are this: On a world stage, with cameras rolling, the current U.S. President gave a lustful, longing and demeaning glance to the buttocks of an under-aged girl; his desire to mount her being painfully obvious to Kenya and the world.

Man up , Nancy. You'll get over it.

I am glad you are aware how you look to others, and what you may be looking at all times to anyone around you, should a photo be taken of you.

If anyone had a photo of every move of their public life it will happen.

How many tabloids have posted photo's of awkward moments in someones life only to skew it to their own personal agenda.

In this day and age, facts dont mean shiat. Just say it enough times, with enough confidence, and then it's all good.

That's why Obama got elected anyway. It has nothing to do with his actual cred, just his persona and his electability. America got played yo. They all bought up the Pepsi like it wasn't basically a slight variation on the Coke.

He got elected because of "hope and change" buzzwords.

Oh, by the way, if anyone wants to read up on Foucault, I suggest "The Philosophy of Foucault" by Todd May. I haven't read it, but I read parts, and Todd May is an excellent philosopher. Clear like an analytic, but not afraid of terms like Dasein and doesn't think of Camus as "just a novelist"

Is Hr for a non-profit the same as Hr for an engineering company?
Does the data/market analysis require using the skills you learned with respect to human interaction and society, or the skills you picked up necessarily from statistics to understand and deconstruct collected data?
