I remember once...must have been 1997 or 1998...Serena Altschul was doing her little 30 second news blurb and she was wearing a see through shirt with a see through bra. If you looked at it in the right light you could almost make out nipple.

It was glorious.

That list SUCKED. Are there any better lists out there?

I so remember watching MTV when it first came out. I'm pretty sure I stopped watching for videos after HS, but I loved watching Beavis and Butthead. After they were off the air, I have never watched MTV again. It's the TRL POP/CRAP/RAP channel.

He and the other comedian hack character (some irish bloke) disappeared into irrelevance behind the bright shining star of Colin Quinn.

IIRC, Kennedy's brand of whaaaargaaaarble was the "Hey look at me, I'm so quirky and wierd" type. She could be nice to look at but I always wanted to stuff her mouth with a ballgag.

I remember the first time I saw Serena Altschul on MTV News I said to myself "holy crap it's that one chick from Channel One who has that same facial expression at all times". I canceled by XM subscription when it merged with Sirius as there were too many ex-MTV VJs on the air. I paid for no talk, not to hear Martha Quinn or Nina Blackwood. I mean, it is great they can still find work, but I have moved on from my early 80's days. But not my 80's music.:-)

Duff and Tabitha for me. Duff always seemed to be a pretty together girl, as well as being hot, but Tabitha was a guilty pleasure, since she read the news with about as much emotion and inflection as a wax mannequin. I always had the feeling that Kurt Loder just wanted to backhand her sometimes.

Chris Hardwick is on G4TV. He's on Attack of the Show every now and then and has a newish show that is a horribly dull blatant tech/internet themed rip off of The Soup.

Ummm, how does "spin-off" = "rip-off"? It's produced by the same people as the ones who do "The Soup" (just like The Dish). Joel even had Chris on the show a few weeks ago to announce the debut of his new show. Now if you want a rip-off, "Tosh.0" would be more accurate

/I like them both equally, though.

Oh, Good God! Who is this woman and what did she do with mousy, sweet little Martha Quinn? If only she had pulled this look out while she was still at MTV instead of the dorkette bangs, I would have forgotten about Nina Blackwood.

What kind of unholly allances did she and Susanna Hoffs enter so they could look they way they do at 50? They're still killing kittens the way they did 20 years ago.

"Look at me - I'm a biatch!"

She now co-hosts a show on KFI in Los Angeles with Bryan Suits, and they call it "Kennedy & Suits" (listen online at kfi640.com from 7 to 10 PM PST). Suits is an atheist in contrast to her Christian sensibilities, so you might hear them passionately disagree about something from time to time. One issue they argued about was legalizing the sale of organs. Kennedy, who's against it, at one point tried to use the fact that she had a degree in philosophy from UCLA to one-up Suits. She demanded, "How many philosophy degrees do you have?", to which Suits snarkily responded, "Three, as a matter of fact." Good times.

Didn't MTV "run" him as a Presidental candidate in 1988? Like that guy who used to work on Laugh-In who ran every time. I remember watching one those seemingly endless behind the scenes at MTV shows where that hoser John Norris remarked about how MTV wanted to throw themselves into the 1992 race, instead of making fun of it. Thus, we got the famous "Boxers or Briefs" apperance by Bill Clinton on MTV. I know that helped him greatly. Don't forget, at one time, it was Bill Clinton who was the fresh face of the Democratic Party and was compared to JFK. So long ago....

Fun Dumpster 2009-07-06 11:25:14 AM

What about Jenny McCarthy and Chris Hardwick? Jenny's about the most famous (for absolutely nothing) person who ever worked at MTV. Serena Altschul is a reporter for CBS now. I think EW wanted to make sure they didn't include too many productive members of society in this list. Still doesn't explain the exclusion of Jesse, though. This list should be bookended with him and Pauly Shore.

Chris Hardwick is on G4TV. He's on Attack of the Show every now and then and has a newish show that is a horribly dull blatant tech/internet themed rip off of The Soup
