On a completely unrelated note, my ebay account NotStolenGoods198 is selling at least four new items.

Probably not there right now, but probably have been or will be. This sort of thing goes on all the time.

Disturbing that two Farkers knew about her of the top of my head, and I had to google her. Truly nothing is obscure here.

It should be pointed out that Mr. Sandy Burger was a part of the Clinton administration, so perhaps the Clintons would know something.

I'm sure the Bush appointees running the archive will get right on that.

Huggermugger 2009-07-05 07:34:40 PM
I used to visit the Archives several evenings a week, and on Saturdays, for years doing research on Civil War pensions and census listings. This was before they eliminated those extra hours (a real blow to researchers who work full-time jobs).

When I would check out at the front desk, the scrutinization of my bags/backpacks, briefcases, etc. was quite erratic. While some of the guards were thorough and professional, others were so distracted gossiping with each other, or chatting on their cellphones, that they barely flipped through my stuff. Had I wanted to steal something it would have been quite easy, mostly by monitoring the guard-posting patterns to see when the apathetic slackers were on duty.

or maybe it's like the 9/11 flag; and some rich folks absconded with them because that's what they do, and have always done.

Not only were they moon photos, these were the photos prior to being doctored. Now everyone will know all the Apollo landings were faked, from a soundstage at Norton Air Force base.

/very subtle and obscure

Referencing a politician caught with documents he smuggled out of the National Archive in his pants isn't exactly trolling.

I'm an archivist professionally, and I sent this story out all over. It's very worrisome that the national center for government documents is not following basic archival procedure - document control, researcher observation, ect.

mooseyfate 2009-07-05 08:07:14 PM
A suspect wearing Ledoux's Hockey Mask, Reilly's Rangers Combat Armor, and wielding a Railway Rifle was seen leaving the premises shortly before the items were noticed missing. The only witness to the crime, a self-proclaimed treasure hunter by the name of Sydney, was found dead at the scene. More on this story as it develops.

From TFA: "Some were stolen by researchers or Archives employees. Others simply disappeared without a trace."

That statement is profoundly moronic.
