I have noticed over the past 10 years that the bikini went from being something worn only by relatively attractive people, or attention whores, to something that is acceptable to be worn by anyone.

I was a biatchubby through most of my teen years and would never have dreamed of wearing a bikini. I'm a decent size 4-6 now, and even still I sometimes think that a bikini is not really for me. Yet if I wear a one-piece to a beach or pool I am 99.9% of the time the only one doing so. I've gradually become more comfortable with it, but don't know what day everybody woke up and decided it was appropriate to let their rolls hang out.
