True, sad, story.

So, we live in a pretty agricultural area. Tons of farms around, so we're always figuring out what they're growing, and teaching our kids that food comes from farms, etc. We have a garden in the back yard. But there are some things we can't grow back there. Like pineapples.

So Mr.PumpkinCake gets a pineapple one evening, and we're having a science lesson on what they feel like, what they taste like, what colors are on them, what the leaves feel like, etc. And he says, "and where do you think pineapples come from?" And our 5 year old says, enthusiastically, "FROM UNDER THE SEA!" *big beaming smile for getting the pop quiz right*

We've only watched that show like, twice, and it was to see what the hubbub was about. But that's a stupid show. Funny story though.

One of my first crappy photoshops was of Spongebobs house.

Farking LOVE Spongebob. Reasone one is it's one of the only cartoons I can watch repeats and not get tired of.

Quick EMT story.

Big car crash. This kids parents were in bad shape. The kid was alright, just a little beat up but we couldn't get him to tell us his name or calm him down.
Finally, one of the EMT's asked him calmly.."Who lives in a Pineapple under the sea?"
The kid just finally paused, calmed down and looked over, "Spongebob Squarepants.".
Finally were able to help him after that.
And THAT, is reason 2 to always love the sponge.

Spongebob was a fantastic show until the late 2004/early 2005. Since then it's been crap. They fired and shook up all of their writers that time. (Everyone also thought it was going to be canceled because there was like a year and a half between new episodes)

TeddyRooseveltsMustache [TotalFark] 2009-07-05 11:22:33 AM
Rocko's Modern Life was better. We've really wimped out as a society when our kids are playing with an action figure that's a SPONGE.

is this show still on? Seems kind of like Diego in that it's perpetually marketed, yet I haven't seen a new episode in years. I kind of liked it better when it was kid's show that had some obvious adult-esque humor. (see also: Rocko's Modern Life)

FTA: An upcoming "best of" episode, The Great Escape, will find SpongeBob, his simple-minded starfish friend Patrick, SpongeBob's long-suffering neighbour Squidward and cranky restaurant owner Mr. Krabs locked inside the Krusty Krab freezer. While they plot ways to get out, they flashback to "shocking" moments from the past.

There was a period of at least a few months where my parents were really into SpongeBob. (They're in their late fifties.) I would call the house and they'd always tell me they were watching it. I was really surprised that my incredibly grouchy and conservative father could tolerate SpongeBob's incessant cheeriness.

I am a 42 year old mom and I can crack kids up with bits from Spongebob that their parents ( all who hate Spongebob quite vigorously.) It puts me in that Cool Mom place.

When my 11 year old son asks me to sing a song I usually do the " The best time to wear a Striped sweater..." bit.

Plankton and Crabbs are awesome. Squidward rocks. (Fun fact, the actor who voices Squidward is named Roger Bumpass. That's gotta be a stage name.)

I could and pretty much have watched Spongebob on a continous loop for about 6 or 7 years now. I have never tired of it.

That stupid laugh of his is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me, and these days it's been a substitute for the good, funny writing this show used to have.

About the same time the "swear episode" came out there was one where they needed peanuts but didn't have any. It shows Spongebob thinking and then really excited. The next shot is him looking through the doorway at a toilet. He runs in there to a plant growing on the sil with a lone nut, but for that split second they let you believe it had something to do with that toilet.

I used to have the dvd, but lost it to the mother of 2 year old twins. They loved it all, but the Hash Slinging Slasher, which used to scare them. That and Nosferatu came on at the end of that episode for absolute terror.
