Marc Andreessen, Leo Laporte, Molly Wood and Jason Calacanis? WTF? What about Tim Berners-Lee? Vint Cerf? Paul Mockapetris? I'd vote for Al Gore before any of the latter three.

Molly Wood has the best porn star name.

No Tim Berners-Lee?

If we started a write-in campaign for Homestar Runner, it might be amusing.

Or Anonymous.

I have never heard of any of those people. I choose Drew.

Since I'm not on the ballot for President, I'd like to submit my name for Undersecretary to the Deputy Director of Interweb Policy Analysts.

I was expecting there to be memes that we get to vote on... leaving sad, cold, and alone.

Tech Republic fellating Leo LaPorte, there's a shock.

Well, it'll most likely be a puppet regime.

Drew will be the puppet master wielding power from behind the scenes.

Did Al Gore not get nominated because he invented global warming as well?

I don't think anyone could beat moot, unless it was "anonymous."

Jubeebee 2009-07-05 03:03:24 PM
If you'd like to nominate another candidate, then you are welcome to do a write-in. Simply post in the discussion thread below and make the subject line of your discussion post "Write-in candidate: John Doe" and then explain why John Doe is the best candidate in the body of the message. If you'd like to vote for a write-in candidate that someone else has already been added, simply reply underneath that write-in candidate with a message of "I vote for John Doe" in the subject line.

If one of the write-in candidates receives an overwhelming number of votes (100+), then that candidate will be included in a run-off with the top two vote-getters in this poll, but only if a run-off is needed for one of the two reasons mentioned above in the rules section.

Anyone have the over/under on how long it takes them to change the rules so Moot and/or Anonymous doesn't win?

Nacho Hat 2009-07-05 03:04:14 PM
Why?

CygnusDarius [TotalFark] 2009-07-05 03:05:57 PM
She should be the president of the internets.

Raven Riley (new window, NSFWish, but it's sunday!).

No proper list of candidates = No voty from me.

A bunch of people I never heard of.

Awesome...

Wait so you have to register to their site to add a write-in candidate? fark that.

howabout no.

In fact, this combined with my hangover puts me in a very foul mood. Goddamn idiots.

None of those people are influential at all.

moot, Drew, Lowtax, Max, Maddox, etc all wield much more power and authority.

Hmm headline just changed from "Drew not on the list" to "Leo Laporte gets Drews vote".

Liked the old one better.

/Keep watching mods :D

You see though, the purpose of the office of President is to distract people from where the real power lies.

We should all write in Rick Astley.

To 4chan!

Really? No mention of

Ron Paul?

Oh wait, I forgot, the Internet's not in the Constitution. Nevermind.

Anarchy is the best form of government for the Internet. Elect someone to "give it direction" and to "fix the problems" and it's a sure fire way to fark up what we have.

sarcastrophe: Anarchy is the best form of government for the Internet. Elect someone to "give it direction" and to "fix the problems" and it's a sure fire way to fark up what we have.

And this is why I am the best candidate. I stand for lack of direction. Delay is a standard tactic. Wait, is this a paid position? because I am not doing nothing for free.

He would just tie with moot, and instead of tying up the courts with endless appeals, would give up for the sake of a stable government.

If Drew is too drunk to be President I'd go with Leo Laporte too.

RogermcAllen 2009-07-05 04:01:53 PM
The president of the US is chosen by the collective votes of the retarded masses, no their qualifications. I say Moot wins because he can move the retarded masses like no other.

EddieMoscone 2009-07-05 04:02:25 PM
I've got no motivation, but if I did, my vote would go for Leroy Jenkins.

Epiphany 2009-07-05 04:17:53 PM
This guy doesn't know anything about the internet. The internet is not a Democracy, it's Anarchy, and moot is the closest thing to a "leader" of the internet.

You're all wrong. Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer are King and Queen of the Internet.

They're celebrities who embrace the internet whole-heartedly. I've seen pictures of Neil's Father's Day present from his daughter and knew when her braces came off. Amanda Palmer has shown me her underwear collection (from the inside of her bathroom) and sold someone her glass dildo.

Hugh Hefner or Larry Flynt. Because without porno, there would be no internet.

Rick Astley.
