In other news, colleges across the country are placing orders for their new robotic cafeteria chef overlords.

Donnchadha: "So, how far away from this are we?"

I recall watching a video from the sixties about a future in which every home had an appliance that was essentially a refridgerated vending machine with a microwave built in. Premade frozen meals were tagged and read internally and the computer built into the unit kept track of your preferences, weight and nutritional requirements and would recommend meals based on that. When you made your selection it'd vend it internally and then nuke it before dispensing it to you.

Nothing most families would want, I think. However it sounds like a winner for college cafeterias.

That's gonna knock the price of Ramen over the 25 cent point I am willing to pay.

Well the prices in the article are still 4-5x what you would be willing to pay.

Yeah but it's real ramen, not the stuff in the plastic wrapper.

/wish there was anywhere with good ramen near me

THIS. Despite I prefer northern Chinese style noodles the most, I still like Japanese style ramen, handmade or instant.

If this is their motto, then we can expect a series of dishes that taste almost, but not quite entirely unlike ramen.

A robotic ramen chef? What does robotic ramen taste like?

Hell, I want one. Auto-stock it via some type of belt-driven system connected to the nearest supermarket and I'd never leave the house. One machine for food, another for booze, a third for the used panties of Japanese women... I think I feel a sci-fi novel coming on.

Would the panty vending machine make suggestions just like the meal vendor? High School panties for a light, clean fragrence with a naughty hint of lesbian locker room hijinks; Collegiate panties for the stronger, funkier odor of sweaty tension over final exams; or, for the true panty connoisseur, the unwashed, over-ripe and pungent ammoniac stench of panties worn for a week by a mamma-san with a bladder control problem.

/mention me in your novel's preface

I would never leave the house, between a holodeck and a replicator, I'd never leave home. My every fleeting idea for a project at almost no cost to me? I'd never get anything done, but I'd have plenty of projects on hold...

I bet with the guy 60 years old having a kitchen robot is helping him quite a bit. Cool article.

However, now I want ramen!
Nobody else in my household will eat it but I have the addiction from my college years.

BEST Ramen Recipe:

Cook ramen without seasoning. Drain all liquid.

Apply Frank's RedHot Sauce.

Enjoy.
