No, that one block is all that's nice looking; the rest of the area is low rent apartments south, old warehouses and run down industrial buildings. The one group of townhouses are a beautification project and stick out like a sore thumb from the surrounding area.

He was on the wrong side of Broadway. Broadway and 2nd North is the tourist/pedestrian area, with clubs/bars and upscale restaurants and stuff. From Broadway to 2nd South is more rundown or "in development", save for Demonbreun St. He wasn't far from the good side of town at all, but he still wasn't in it.

What surprises me the most is that this didn't happen in East Nashville.

What? I lived down there for years. It's not that bad at all. Have you just not been to many "bad parts of town" in other places? There are way, way worse places in Nashville than 2nd/Lea.

Are you sure your wife isn't thinking of down around Cannon? That's where, IIRC, the "beautification project" in the middle of a bunch of shiat was.

I think you have to make a distinction in Nashville as you do in most cities. Unlike inner city Chicago, even the "low digit South" streets are safe in the morning and during the day. The only time they get really rough (and even then you pretty much have to overstep your bounds) is late at night. I admit some of the area becomes sketchy around 2 - 3 in the morning, but it still isn't "get double murdered" sketchy. But, then again, maybe he got murdered at 2-3 in the morning. :/

I can see it. He is only the third player to get over 3500 rushing yards and over 35000 passing yards. The two others are Steve Young and Randell Cunningham.

Like some others have said, she points out once you get south of Broadway the whole character of the area changes. If you look at the area through Google or Streetview it looks pretty run down except for that one block of townhouses, and just south of there is a huge area of tenement houses that look a lot like subsidized housing.

Understood. I haven't been down there in a few years, so it's quite possible it's gone downhill since the early 2000s.

BTW, the worst place in Nashville is Buffalo Billiards. Their prices are criminal. :D

The rumor going around Nashville is that she was a 20-year-old Asian woman.

Steve was a pretty cool guy, even if he was a playa. I grew up in Mississippi, not far from where he did. Back when he was in college, my mom met him in McDonald's one night, and got his autograph.

Another great MS-born NFL star is gone. :( I haven't felt this bad since Walter Payton passed away.
