There was a time when a couple hundred pairs of good blue jeans would buy you an army in Eastern Europe.

Abercrombie & Fitch does not carry high end denim.

G_Fish: Abercrombie & Fitch does not carry high end denim.

They really don't carry high end anything. They took the Bose marketing approach... spend most of the income on creating a brand name to put on cheap john crap and selling it for hundreds of percent markup.

People clamor over it, so I guess that despite what I think, it is a major business success.

Barnum probably cracked himself up all the time.

I'm 20 and wearing a pair of jeans I bought for $15 on the Sale rack of American Eagle. I got a kick, etc.

This is why we can't have nice things. The article left out-this has been going on for over a YEAR and that two of the stores they were stealing from had to close down because of loss.

Impudent Domain 2009-07-04 06:48:57 PM
The other day I was walking through the Galleria Mall and I saw Victoria's Secret with all their displays on one side and Abercrombie and Fitch and their displays on the other and I realized that Victoria's uses hetero sex to sell things and Abercrombie uses gay sex to sell things.

/Display was teh uber-ghey.

//not that there's anything wrong with that.

I got two pairs of jeans from AE on sale and they're really great. Sure, AE is a douchey brand but the jeans are surprisingly nice, especially when you get them cheaper than Levi's.

vitaexcolatur 2009-07-04 06:58:30 PM
all pleasantries aside, can we dismiss the fact that they stole 10k worth of denim merchandise and focus on their names:

Dominique Copeland, 21, and Quantavious Guffie, 18

somewhere, JK Rowling is looking to sue for copyright infringement...

There are only 3 things that matter in life as far as style goes.

You need to think you look good, when you're in a professional environment you should look professional, and you need to be attractive to women.

Meet those criteria and toss the naysayers the finger.

'Rollin' x Deep' where x is the number of people you have around willing to throw down is just slang.

i thought something was fishy. there's no way that a gang would be that clever in having an inseam measurement as their gang name...

thanks for the head's up. i can now throw down with the best of 'em.

When I was destroying myself via cocaine I used to steal bluejeans, at first taking orders for color and size.

I was such a sucker, man.

That's REALLY hard, stealing to order instead of just stuffing a buncha shiit into a bag and taking off.

Eventually I figured that out and just started stealing shiit like Timberland, Nautica, Polo, Tommy Hilfiger- didn't matter what I stole then it was good as gold for 1/3 face value.

Picked up three pairs of these at Costco a few months ago for $25 apiece. Very sturdy and comfortable, but expensive as crap in the mall.

/lucky you

It's very easy to see why they exist. Just look at the PD in whichever city you live in and watch how they respond to virtually any situation. They throw a crapton of people at it.

i don't want to alarm you, but designer items generally fit better and last longer. it's the things that are truly "overpriced" that area a waste of money.

e.g., a designer suit is going to look sharper and last through more drycleans than, say, a $200 suit. same goes for denim.

And on the subject of jeans: I'm amazed that people will pay more than $150 for jeans that look like they've been sitting in the middle of the highway all day. When I have pants that look like that, I either use them for painting or throw them out.

yes, the "distressed" look is terrible. this coming from someone who regularly wears designer denim (i love jeans, sue me)

A good tailor will make clothes fit better. I'm short and hour glass shaped, all of my pants have to tailored to me. And as for lasting longer, it depends on how often you wear it and who cleans it and how it is done. Really, if you take care of your clothes, the label doesn't matter.
