Lumi: DeaH: I work with poeple who would gladly follow her to the ends of the earth. A Palin Power Hour would be must-see tv for them.

Holy shiat.

The Palin Power Hour.

Half religion, half political talk. All mushed together.

Like the 700 club meets Glen Beck.

She could have a "Hints for Home-schoolers" segment, a survivalist cooking segment (think of the cookware merchandising possibilities), a fashion segment, and a hot topics segment where she interviews people and gives her take on the day's headlines. And she could critique the comics. I am tell you, there is some big money to be made off this. And, again, there is a huge built-in market.

Even if it turns out that she did embezzle, it wouldn't affect her numbers. The people I know who support her wouldn't believe it. Or they would excuse it. And they would watch and buy.

Gardenia 2009-07-04 03:36:42 PM
downstairs: FlashHarry: shallow, arrogant and self-serving than previously thought - and would have zero credibility on any issue.

As compared to Hannity, Olberman, Maddow, O'reilly, etc.?

Um...none of those bailed out on a public office mid-term.

Just sayin'

I_Love_Verdi: Just because her family could fill a whole week's lineup of Maury doesn't mean she deserves her own show.

I don't know, that might be exactly what that means.

Mentat: lawboy87: Maddow graduated at age 20 from Stanford, earning a Rhodes Scholarship along the way and holds a PhD (DPhil) in PolySci from Oxford She's hardly the vacuous, incomprehensible, willfully ignorant type as is Palin. I'd say she has a hell of lot of credibility on matters of politics given her past record of success in the area.

And she gets aroused talking about infrastructure.

And she once referenced Mr. Bungle in one of her commentaries.

*swoon*

She functions in society as a leader of a state. She has some connection with reality and society and how to "get by".

What was apparent to most Americans at the time of the election and is apparent to almost all Americans now is that she does not and cannot function in society as a leader of a state. From putting unqualified people in positions of power because she went to high school with them, to letting her husband operate in an official capacity as governor of a state to, engaging in petty vendettas against those who dare disagree with her, to charging the state to live in her own home, to lying about easily verifiable facts to her own staff, she never functioned as an effective public servant. She's always been corrupt, short-sighted, and not just a little crazy.

Don't stop believing.

I mean, Sarah's just a small-town girl. She's working hard to get her fill.

Sure, some will win, some will lose, some are born to sing the blues.

But the movie never ends--it goes on and on and on and on.

You forgot the transparently megalomaniacal level of ambition. Not that there's anything wrong with ambition per se, but the amount one would need to think that six years on the city council and six years at the part-time, drive-thru mayor's office in Wasilla, and two years as governor of Alaska, with an education that at best could be described as meandering and scattershot, is exactly the sort of background that prepares someone to be one step away from being President of the United States, is frightening.

A rational person, with regular politician-levels of ambition, would have said "Thanks, but no thanks" to McCain, then spent the next four years crafting a political persona and developing a platform that would make her a viable option for 2012 or beyond.

I'm not sure she could really be described as ambitious. Vane, sure. Avaricious, yes. Narcissistic? Definitely. But ambitious people work hard, challenge themselves and those around them, and strive to achieve. Palin outsourced most of the mayoral duties to a city manager. She has her husband go to important meetings dealing with official government business in her place. She doesn't read and makes no attempts to improve herself by learning. She spent 6 years in college getting a bachelor's degree in journalism. She wants to see her name in lights, but she isn't willing to do any of the work required to get it there.

(Note - there's nothing wrong with spending 6 years to get a degree or hiring someone else to do your job for you, they just aren't marks of an ambitious person.)

I was just permanently banned from the Sean Hannity forum because I posted a thread about the possibility of Palin resigning due to shenanigans with the construction company.

Apparently, unless your post is packed with insults against "libs," "Obammy," "Obummer," and your responses to legitimate questions backed up with links to sources isn't the equivalent to "Hey, look over there... a Democrat did something bad at some point, too!", you will be kicked. What a bunch of crybaby, victimhood loving biatches.

That is all.

Wait, "crybaby, victimhood loving biatches". Isn't that exactaly what you are right now? I am confused...

Whatever the reason for palins resignation, the end result is good for the rest of us. The republican party is either going to rethink their position and start running with more viable candidates, or they are going to find somone hotter and more folksy to replace her leading to even more comedy.

Sarah Palin is very ambitious. She's also clueless.

Well the beauty of option #2, is that they are going to have to dip into the relm of adult entertainment to get both hotter and dumber.

I liked the speech!

It's hard not to ramble on when you have a head full of meth from the binge you indulged in when you found out your political career has ended. Give the girl a break.

She'll check herself into a hospital for "exhaustion" and announce another pregnancy right as the indictments land. Be prepared for the vagina card and the "boys club" card to be shamelessly played.

You're going to see Rush suddenly become a women's rights crusader. It will be a fine madness we get to witness in the coming months.

BTW, no accident we have started seeing McCain aides popping up with anecdotes about her campaign antics.

This is about the RNC getting its collective ass in order finally and taking out the trash that made them lose the last election.

Good on them - I would like to have a better choice that douchebag/turd sandwich in a couple of years.

What hugely successful multinational corporation did Palin leave North Idaho Community College to found?

Obviously if someone leaves school to start a legitimate business they are ambitious. They found a more productive, more instructive use of their time and pursued it. Sarah Palin did not. They gambled a few years on a more productive future and it paid off, but if it had failed they would have patched up their resume with a degree in a few semesters (if you're ambitious enough, you can fit almost any bachelor's degree into 4 semesters, and most can fit into 2). What gamble did Palin take that failed? What excuse did she have to take so long in school after it failed?

She chose to spend 6 years in school to get one bachelor's degree, in journalism of all things. She then spent a few months working in her chosen field before quitting to be a full-time mom/housewife. Again, there's nothing wrong with that. A similar statement could be crafted to characterize millions if not tens of millions of Americans. It's not a mark of ambition, though.

(As an aside, most of my classmates, both undergraduate and graduate, who were involved in successful entrepreneurial ventures were not particularly ambitious. Generally they were more ambitious in their studies than in their outside projects, which they viewed more as neat hobbies until they suddenly turned into money makers. I knew people who made tens of millions of dollars before graduating, but they still graduated without delay.)

Huggermugger 2009-07-04 05:30:13 PM
darkhorse23: But I've read some backstory stuff overnight and it seems she's about to be indicted on embezzlement charges along with Todd and the construction company that built both their house and the big community center/show arena in Wasilla.

THAT makes sense, as to why she looked so panicked.

If that is true, then how on earth could she possibly have imagined that this would not eventually be revealed?

For that matter, how could any politician or public figure who has a gigantic skeleton in his/her closet, and knows it, not assume that there's a pretty good chance that it's inevitably going to come bursting out of the closet?

There has got to be a new diagnosis in the DSMV just for "Mount Everest-height level of denial and self-delusion".
