DoomsDayAardvark: In other news, my parents just told me that their kitty Hemingway has just been diagnosed with kidney dysfunction. He's been really mopey for a couple of days, but he has some special food now, and he's started eating again. We'll see how he does.

Best of luck to Hemingway. Diet is very important with kidney problems - RUN, do not walk, to the Vet if his appetite fails. (I lost Merlin to kidney failure, it was too late to do anything for him as he had stopped eating entirely.

Hemingway has always been a bit of a fragile case for health. My folks took him in off the street (he was feral, and came to beg for food) after he'd apparently been shot with a pellet gun and brought him to the vet. While he was there, they discovered that he was FIV positive. He's been to the brink a few times, so we'll see how it goes.

Hopefully, he'll be back to tormenting Nero again soon.

Oreo (my diabetic kitteh) was also FIV positive. He also had been abandoned in the woods to fend for himself after being a housecat for about 13 years. Despite all that (and 6 years of twice a day insulin injections), he lived to be 23 years old. Cats are tough.
Dragon and I hope he is back to his old self real soon!

Walker: It's a bug crawling on the lens. When they are right on the lens like that they look like blurry blobs.

came to say this.

/would have been impressed if the "ghost" went behind and object on the screen

bovinedefenestration: predle: Probably the last week I'll have my fosters, they all got put up for adoption yesterday. Here they are right after I got them.

That is very adorable. Looks like one of the torties is a half-and-half. :)

My little one is still recovering from her mass of botflies. She's feeling a lot better now that they and the other bugs are gone, though. I've never met a noisier little kitten. Very, very calico, and her eyes are turning gold. When she's all better, she'll be absolutely stunning.

/been fawning over a kitten for the last week.
//she sleeps with me, sits on me, and cries if I leave the room - it's one of the most pathetically adorable little things I've seen

Had a kitten like that...MacFeegle.
Little black guy, utterly fearless...but if he wasn't eating or playing he had to be IN CONTACT me...was like having a kitten surgically attached.
I use a shawl in the computer room during the winter (it gets cold in there) and I'd wrap Feegle in the shawl and he'd go to sleep supported in it, resting on my chest...sorta like a baby Snugli. Was kind of awkward, but I wanted him to feel safe, loved, and secure.
When he was about five months old, he said "OK, I'm all grown up and independant now!" and I no longer had a kitten-graft...but I did have a fearless, loving, joyful kitteh whose attitude toward life was "Bring it on!"
"It" being more in the nature of a pizza rather than a fight...Feegle never met a snack he didn't like.

This is Shortcake,

farm4.static.flickr.com

She was a wonderful cat. she had a great run as far as cats go. when she was born her mother being a nomadic soul would only stay for a few hours at a time. Misty, the mother would leave several times every nite. and short cake would mew and mew and mew...
I would stick my hand in the box and pet the only kitten until momma would come back. she would head butt my hand, then i would go back to sleep myself. In the years that followed Shortcake became my cat, she would chew on my beard. try and clean me when i came home from work, lol. and would run off any animal or my wife when it was time for "her" to be petted..
I didn't know when i submitted this caturday this was going to be it for the "cakes". she had several strokes friday night an had taken a severe turn for the worse saturday morning..
I am so grateful that i had these last few months with her, since the house fire, that nothing had happened to her or her cat family.

She is not a ghost, she is buried by her mother. but her daughter will be here to "haunt" me for years to come hopefully..

/excuse the ugly furry thing...
