And there will still be people that biatch and only say he gave a small percentage of his income.

1.25B is 1.25B, regardless of who gives it.

The same goes with taxes. People that biatch about percentage of income given should work on earning higher wages so they can also pay more.

He has consistently decried the tax breaks for the wealthy. He insists on paying the full amount, avoiding all loopholes and complains it isn't enough. He was one of the few billionaires that actively opposed Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy.

Also, he isn't giving money, he's giving shares. Their value will fluctuate lots before the foundation cashes them in. They may not have even sold his previous endowment, so both are worth the same, at the moment.

Autism rates didn't drop when thimerosal was removed from US vaccines. Post hoc ergo propter hoc? While I lack an Amish studies degree, common sense tells me there's a pretty large number of genetic/lifestyle types of differences between Amish and regular Americans aside from vaccinations.

other theorys include things like lacking vitamin D from not being outdoors enough and too much TV at an early age.

As someone who lives in Seattle, I'm very excited for this news. The Gates Foundation is the primary benefactor in funding the myriad of arts in Seattle, be it the symphony, opera, ballet, museums, or theaters. If it wasn't for this charity, I doubt many of the arts organizations would be able to stay afloat in this hard economic time. Biatch and moan about the evilness of Microsoft, Gates, and Buffet, but sometimes you gotta sit back and say thank you.

Right, Amish people.

They've been vaccinated before, and apparently they do suffer from a number of genetic problems. (new window)

It seems reasonable that if Autism were at least in some part genetic, that perhaps the restricted gene pool has just helped them luck out in that respect (while screwing them over in many other ways).

It's worth noting that doing proper medical studies on the Amish, who shun tech is somewhat problematic. I would imagine as noted that the rate at which they'd even bother going to the hospital to report many issues would be very very low.

Cheapskate.

"Comrade Obamavich" is on a pace to give $1.5 trillion to people who don't need it, mainly big banks and other financial institutions which wouldn't need the money if the CEOs hadn't run them into the ground.

Of course I am sure that isn't much comfort to the average Farker, who paid $500,000 in 2007 at 1.9% for a house which is appraised at $200,000 today, but which might fetch $120,000, tops, in a distress sale which can't happen because he still owes $480,000 against it, and his payments have gone from $930 a month to around $2350 and his interest rate has gone from $1.9% to 6.5%.

Then of course, he reads in the paper where the bank which holds his mortgage just got $80 billion in free money, which will come right out of his pocket since he is still working and paying taxes.

That about get it?

\\\ and you wonder why we call them "Libtards."

Besides, vaccination has *NO* effect on autism rates. Some European country with electronic medical records settled this--they had data on the vaccination status of everyone in the country as well as whether they were diagnosed with autism.

They basically got money as "insurance" against all the foreclosures, which people will still be required to keep from happening by......paying the bank. Hell why not just pay off everyone's mortgages instead? Even the subprime ones. Problem solved.

I did, the original controversy was started by Dr. Andrew Wakefield in the British medical journal The Lancet. (Feb 1998)
His conclusion was that the MMR vaccine had caused autism symptoms in 12 subjects within days of the inoculation.

Meanwhile, Wakefield received £55,000 from a group of solicitors (British lawyers), who were trying to make the link, so they could sue drug companies. Wakefield was also working on an alternative vaccine to the MMR.

In addition to this conflict of interest, General Medical Council states that the data in Lancet was actually falsified. (the investigation is ongoing)

You have a neat little conspiracy that doesn't actually exist.

The rise in Autism rates is due to better diagnosis, not your vaccines.

Also, he doesn't think the government knows better what to do with his money, he just thinks it's unjust that he earns way more than the average person and pays way less (almost half!) in taxes. He just wants to pay his fair share.
