Genevieve Marie: I hate when people get all excited about the idea of her running because it's a sure victory for Democrats. Yes, I'm a liberal, yes I voted for Obama... but I hate the idea of going into a presidential race with one candidate who is so completely pathetic I can't even handle the possibility that they MIGHT win. I'd prefer a legitimate Republican candidate get the nomination so we can have some semblance of a real election.

You mean you'd like to calmly discuss the issues and making a rational choice? Where's the fun in that?

Letterman, Ferguson, and Conan are new next week and they should all have something to say, especially Letterman.

Happy happy joy joy!

From_The_Year_2000: Hopefully Romney. He's the only one that has even a chance

The fundamentalists would never back a Mormon. Huckabee is more likely than Romney. Romney would be a smarter choice, though.

I think it's still possible to see Jeb Bush as a candidate which after the 8 years of W, would be one of the most idiotic things imaginable.

brainiac-dumdum: Andrea Mitchell is saying Palin is backing out of politics all together.

I could see her going into the entertainment business. She could be the Oprah for batsh*t white trash fundies.

sgilman: Palin tweet:

"We'll soon attach info on decision to not seek re-election... this is in Alaska's best interest, my family's happy... it is good, stay tuned"

She apparently doesn't understand the difference between resigning and not seeking re-election.

Who said she wasn't running for re-election? This IS Palin we are talking about.

Wombatzu 2009-07-03 04:37:45 PM
if she really is out of politics, this is bad news for Democrats.

i was counting on her being around a while.

They're saying she resigned because of David Letterman!

SRSLY? Do they have any idea how bad that makes her sound? The "Commander-in-Chief of the Alaska National Guard" cutting and running over a dumb joke?

That they even didn't get right?

It's true. Liberal hate doesn't involve blowing up children in O.K.City, shooting down doctors, or massacring church congregations. It's like conservative hate, only without the bullets!

I wonder what kind of hate Islamofascist terrorists are, liberal or conservative?

Too bad their classifying hate, not terrorism. Nice attempted threadjack though. 1/10.

Andrea Mitchell is reporting that sources close to Sarah Palin are saying Palin is leaving public service.

So is classifying "hate" as such. BTW - when you say "islamofascist" - other people's estimate of your intelligence drops by about half.

Sarah Palin must have found out about Obama's real birth certificate and threatened to reveal the truth. So the Illuminati forced her to step down. It all makes sense now.

bobbette [TotalFark] 2009-07-03 04:39:29 PM
LOL this is what happens when your only political/media advisor of note is Bill Kristol.

That or the scandal is on par with Todd having Greta van Susteren's husband as a gay lover, or she killed Michael Jackson, or something. Because resigning in the late afternoon in Eastern time, the day before the 4th of July, after a week of Marco Sanford's Argentine soul mate affair, and three days before Michael Jackson's gigantic live-broadcast (I assume) funeral, makes it appear something REMARKABLY SCANDALOUS is underlying this decision because it's trying so hard to be buried from the headlines. Why? Why does she need the cover of so many competing headlines for her resignation, especially after she got so much negative press earlier this week? It makes it look like either she's burying something HUGE or she's a pussy who can't take any criticism; "Screw you guys, I'm going home."

Anyway, for old times:

/btw.... barry never finished his term as senator....

Right...but he didn't completely abandon his responsibilities 3 years in advance.

Neither did Bush...or Clinton...or JFK...

And on another note - what's with the troll usage of "Barry" when referring to the president? Do they not believe that a black man should be able to use whatever name he wants?

And that's not just race-baiting - show a white guy that gets called a nickname that he last as a kid.

Some people STILL won't call the former Cassius Clay by his name...yet they still call the man with the birth name of Marion Morrison by the name he chose.

Fox News is running heavily with the concept that this is the start of the 2012 campaign. And John Culberson (R-TX) claims that quitting halfway through a governorship is the kind of perseverance that we haven't seen since the American Revolution, and that the country will vote overwhelmingly for her.

In other news, he's on something.
