If she's going to run, she needs to let us know now. We'll need 3 years to stock up on enough underwear to deal with all the pairs we'll soak pissing ourselves laughing.

What if its Todd? I mean - would that be the greatest scandal of all time?

The Why Not Guy [TotalFark] 2009-07-03 04:20:12 PM
I don't think the Vanity Fair piece is a factor. It only reinforces the Conservatives' "See how the Liberal Media is out to get our Sarah?" mindset.

Anaxphone [TotalFark] 2009-07-03 04:20:13 PM
Damn, the Biden/Palin captions are still funny.

Also, I would ask for help parsing her speech but having someone diagram her sentences would likely qualify as a violation of the Geneva Convention.

Murphyr: me_the_farker: mesohorny: I turned on the TV and spit my pop out. What a terrible setting and speech. Whats with all the farm animals making noises in the background? I think i heard a sheep, a goat and maybe a turkey?

MSNBC went to the tape and thats all i heared. I thought for a second someone dubbed in the noises as a joke.

Yeah, it's on Fox News right now, and while I'm not a politician, I don't think my go to would be "resignation speech around sheep." Also, whoever they were talking to before going to the speech was claiming that this is a brilliant move so that she can travel and write a book and get everyone to vote for her in 2012.

Color me skeptical.

Yeah, being a quitter is hardly going to pump up her resume. It is early but it looks like her political career may be done.

Just to keep the race close, the Democrats should get Gary Coleman to run against her.

I love the video cuts of her and McCain together. The look of hatred in his eyes as she's speaking to the crowds is palpable.

Befuddled: As has already been speculated here, I'd bet she's moving on to a more lucrative job in the private sector.

And is taking it by stepping down immediately with no notice and refusing to say why? What other politician has done that?

In fact, what company of any size would offer her a job? Can you imagine the reaction of shareholders who have just watched this, and then find out that she's coming over to run their company?

Wow. Stewart, Colbert, Olbermann, and Maher ALL take off and THIS is when Palin goes total wharbl.

This is a plan!

AHH There's is something in her speech about governor's being "lame ducks" and traveling around on international trade meetings, etc. She was upset by the lame duck award.

me_the_farker 2009-07-03 04:21:30 PM
This make no sense even for republicans.

Do Republicans think that people would vote for people for President who don't hold some kind of office.

Romney, Huckabee, Palin, will be going around saying vote for me, I haven't done anything in 3+ years except biatch and complain about Obama i'm better than a sitting President.

Come on....

Imagine her as President: "Screw you guys, I'm going home."

I'm with mesohorny on this.
Palin got cannonballed into the spotlight, inflated by her PR people to supehuman proportions, and now has to take the jeering. I'd like to see any of you handle that gracefully.
She'd be a presidential candidate that I'd never vote for, but I think an evening hoisting a few brews with her would probably be a lot of fun.

thekingcobra: This story likely means she is down in the polls for her re-election and unlikely to rebound enough to win. Its a way to step down without looking unpopular.

If that's the case, she could have simply chosen not to seek re-election. Running away from the governorship halfway through a term does not make sense if she's unlikely to be re-elected. Something's up here.

And she just claimed that when she was thinking that she wasn't going to run for re-election, that serving as a "lame duck" wouldn't be fun. I don't think she's necessarily stupid, but I do strongly disagree with her beliefs, her pandering to anti-intellectualism and her claims of readiness to serve. And this kills her political career.

This move reminds me of McCain suspending his campaign at the start of the financial crisis.

If Palin isn't getting the hell out of Dodge to avoid a scandal and this is just a stunt, it's a very poorly conceived one.

This is like me quitting my Director position at my current company and then coming back to them and asking to be hired as a VP. Like someone posted above, you don't QUIT the governorship and then ask to be elected president.

well, that'll bump up the economy then.
And if you consider her running a result of Obama's winning, then you can really say Obama fixed the economy.

So this is good news... for Obama. ;)

I just want to say, I'm incredibly happy that the media is covering Palin, instead of continuing to talk about Michael Jackson. Neither of them should really matter, but at least Palin could have some real influence (even if it's just because people are horrified by her and vote for her opponent).

Eye Of Newt/Palin is a Repug dream ticket, for Demoncrats.
This 3 year run does give her time to go back to school and maybe learn a few things she is so clueless on, the dark lord Newt can help her. Imagine all the scandals they can come up with, both have so much skill in that area.

Doesn't that mean they found something if she then resigned?

Oh, Fox. You so crazy.

Cagey B [TotalFark] 2009-07-03 04:25:11 PM
Ordell: Gee, I can't IMAGINE WHY she would hate the press...

Because they invented a computer program that generated a CGI Sarah Palin who couldn't answer basic questions about governance when asked directly about them? And then falsified dozens of reports from McCain campaign staffers about her behavior, and kept McCain from revealing the truth by dispatching Superman to guard his house?

Seriously, follow that up with something. I would love to hear explanation about how she's actually this intelligent, competent person.
