Yeah, that librul media sure persecuted the shiat out of you, giving a whole day and a half to finding out your husband was in a political party for secessionists during "TERRORIST!" 24/7. Asshole.

Lost Thought 00: How long until she tries to un-resign, and blames Democrats for being obstructionist and not letting her resume her governorship?

About five and a half minutes.

Mr. Chainsaw 2009-07-03 03:53:15 PM
What in the blue fark was she talking about in her statement? It was like the ramblings of a mental patient with lots of terrible sports metaphors thrown in.

Anyways, this is fantastic news for me. I'm moving to Alaska on August 2. I sure dodged that bullet!

Dinki: DamnYankees: This is going to make Andrew Sullivan's day, that's for sure.

Hehe maybe that's it- Sullivan got a hold of the hospital report showing that she wasn't pregnant.

She was the only candidate in the 2008 race that didn't release her medical records. Something was seriously up there, either the whole Trig thing or something earlier in her history -- possibly an abortion or something else in her past that wouldn't make the fundies to pleased with her.

If you want to place bets on a potential scandal, I'd look to the medical records as the source first.

lstywnch: I almost wonder what Wooley, Butler, and McAllister have on her.

It's gotta be....

I noticed the governor's Legal dept. had told them not to comment at all about the incident, saying it was a "personnel" matter -- the same as they told us about Walt before Troopergate.

Maybe she wants to get back to drilling.

OH HELL NO!!

Although she might fit in with some folks over in King's district (Western Iowa).

I just listened to Gov. Palin's announcement on CNN.

For those who missed it, here is what she said:

Cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché cliché.

There were more, but I was too fatigued to continue.

I thought she wouldn't stand for re-election for a couple of reasons.

The Repubs. in Alaska aren't exactly happy with Palin due to the way she won the election and how she has acted as governor. More than likely she would be facing a tough election campaign with all sides firing at her.

A loss would devastate her on the national level and would end her chance in 2012. She leaves office and goes to the Primary States and touts herself as a successful Executive leader and the right choice to challenge Obama.

The resignation, especially considering the timing, is surprising and buried on Friday says scandal unless she thinks announcing the beginning of her 2012 Presidential campaign on July 4th 2009 is a good idea.

Befuddled: So did Palin do some poling in her home state and find out that she's got less than a snowball's chance in hell of winning reelection as governor? I can't imagine she is all that popular in Alaska right now.

Her popularity poll numbers in Alaska are higher than Obama's nationwide. Do you think Obama has "less than a snowball's chance in hell of winning reelection"? Or are you seeing what you want to see?

Looks like she finally started to realize that with the permanent fund dividend tanking and people actually IN Alaska loathing her more and more that she'd get her ass stomped in that re-election campaign.

She's going to try to un-resign in August, and then shoot the Lt. Governor and a random gay person and use the Twinkie Defense to get off.

as i mentioned upthread, her national approval rating among republicans is 80%. she's not an also-ran.

Well, Dr. Butler was talking like a madman from Atlanta. I worked with McAllister at the newspaper here years ago and he is not the type to suffer fools lightly. The ADN has another story about Wooley. There's something VERY interesting going on there and I'm certain all three of those folks are involved somehow.

hubiestubert: Now then, with two women in the race, it would leave ample room for ANOTHER great Maine Senator to rise up, who is a bit more like MCS, and tromp the crazy ones' tuckuses...

So very much this. I am getting increasingly irritated by politicians that vote straight down party lines. I think thats why I love Snowe and Collins. I request absentee ballots just so that I can continue to vote for them.

SomeoneDumb 2009-07-03 03:56:05 PM
I have no doubt she could win the Iowa primary, but I don't think she has much chance of convincing anyone in New Hampshire to vote for her.

Unless her approval rating has gone up double digits in the last couple of months, then Obama's are slightly higher.
