I think this is a good move for Palin as one of the first things I look for in a political leader is the willingness to quit the job they chose to seek before it ends.

DamnYankees [TotalFark] 2009-07-03 03:46:24 PM
HAHA! Holy shiat! She's talking about she's been persectued by the press.

This woman is beyond insane.

smooshie [TotalFark] 2009-07-03 03:46:33 PM
Lolwut? She's blathering about basketball =/

Control_this [TotalFark] 2009-07-03 03:46:43 PM
She's quitting so she can stay on the speaker's circuit. She's tired of taking care of Bristol's kids.

Hobodeluxe [TotalFark] 2009-07-03 03:46:51 PM
Bye and thanks for all the fish Alaska. I'm a fair weathered friend and now that oil revenues have dropped I'm outta here. Governing is hard and I just needed this job as a stepping stone. So cya!

Klingon Penis 2009-07-03 03:46:56 PM
I can't believe this is a prepared statement.
What a complete dumbass.

SherKhan 2009-07-03 03:47:03 PM
Rockdrummer:

Hmmm... Not wanting to seek reelection = "stepping down?"

Only in liberal land.

Urgent message from Liberal Land:

Doy.

You know why I'm smarter than you? Because facts matter to me.

ZangTT 2009-07-03 03:47:14 PM
Theory: She carpetbags down to the lower 48 for a senator-ship.
First one thrown out was Pennsylvania into the Spector vaccuum.

My Fave: Texas, to replace Kay Bailey who'll be running for Governor. I'm in Texas and even I don't know Kay's likely replacement. However, Palin and Kay are wary of each other due to Palin's support for Rick "Good Hair Secessionist" Perry.

Pat Buchanan is basically thinking she'll move to Iowa to run for Pres.

Control_this: She's quitting so she can stay on the speaker's circuit. She's tired of taking care of Bristol's kids.

This sort of makes sense. If she's in it just for the money and has decided to never hold public office again, then it sort of makes sense.

furiousxgeorge [TotalFark] 2009-07-03 03:47:29 PM
My god her statement is rambling, confusing and insane, and she is speaking like five times too fast. What the hell?

Lenny_da_Hog 2009-07-03 03:47:32 PM
lstywnch: Oh good lord. She's saying "I'm taking the right path for Alaska." About the first time she's ever given a crap.

Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will be inaugurated at the Governor's Picnic at Pioneer Park in Fairbanks on Saturday, July 25, Palin said.

Yay!

Well, except for Sean being Governor, that is.... JESUS, what's wrong with this stupid state.....

Herman Borrach 2009-07-03 03:47:35 PM
thomps: boluke01: I'm not really worried, she'd get eaten alive in the primaries anyway. There are too many repubs that are far smarter and more educated than her. If anything, it will be good TV to watch the intellectual beatdown she will endure in the debates. But I can't even fancy a guess as to who should be on the ticket since I've been dissappointed with the entire party for about the last 10 years.

yes, if there's one thing that captivates primary voters it's intelligence and education...

Worked for the Dems.

I fall in the camp that thinks she is leaving politics for good if she is, in fact, stepping down before the end of her term.

Oh, god, and here she is on my television now, talking, and I realize that I have no idea what this inarticulate and foolish person will do.

shower_in_my_socks [TotalFark] 2009-07-03 03:47:40 PM
CBS News is saying she is RESIGNING and handing power over to the Lt. Governor: Link (new window)

Leashlaw [TotalFark] 2009-07-03 03:47:42 PM
Her platform for 2012 will be, "I am such a maverick I didn't even need to finish ONE term as Governor to prepare for the Presidency. You see, I'm such a golly gosh darn good 'Murican that serving out the term I was elected for was beneath me, and took away from my time shootin', waving flags and lookin' at Russia."

MSNBC is showing her live speech and I haven't seen such an awkward, stumbling and poorly rehearsed performance since, well...any other time she has spoken in public.

remus 2009-07-03 03:47:55 PM
remus: DamnYankees: She's resigning. It's all over the news and the link was posted above.

CNN is saying only she is not going to run for another term, NOTHING about resigning is being said on their site at this time.

Ok, NOW they are saying stepping down.

DamnYankees [TotalFark] 2009-07-03 03:48:22 PM
ZangTT: Pat Buchanan is basically thinking she'll move to Iowa to run for Pres.

That would be AWESOME.

Now she's talking about people insulting Trig - who the hell has mocked Trig? Other than, you know, Farkers.

thomps [TotalFark] 2009-07-03 03:48:23 PM
i love that she just used the phrase "hell yeah." i wonder what her stance on putting boots up asses is.

smooshie [TotalFark] 2009-07-03 03:48:36 PM
Yeah, I'm sure you learned a ton from Trig.

Now she's accusing people of making fun of Trig.

She wants to visit soldiers overseas.

unyon [TotalFark] 2009-07-03 03:48:46 PM
I presume that all that governating was just getting in the way of being a celebrity. At least that's the way the Alaskan people seem to be seeing it.

AnnoyingKidNextDoor 2009-07-03 03:48:49 PM
p51d007: The only way she would have a chance, would be to:
Have an affair
Some naked photos of her show up on facebook/myspace.
Get caught snorting coke, smoking weed.
Find out she stole thousands of dollars.

That's how liberals are elected. Seemed to work for Clinton, Hussein Obama and other LIARS.

0/10, You're not even trying.

buzzvert: Anyone else notice that she's holding that fishing pole upside-down? That's not the way you hold a rod with a spincast reel... it doesn't work that way.

FISHING FAIL FTW!

This looks shopped, I can tell from some of the pixels and from seeing quite a few shops in my time

lstywnch 2009-07-03 03:49:06 PM
Lenny_da_Hog: Well, except for Sean being Governor, that is.... JESUS, what's wrong with this stupid state.....

Yeah, but he can at least rub two coherent thoughts together, and he won't be there long.

/SOOO much beer at my place tonight.

DamnYankees [TotalFark] 2009-07-03 03:49:12 PM
This speech is surreal - she's trying to cram every possible GOP trope into this thing so she's speaking 10 times faster than usual. You can hear her anxiety in her voice.

vudukungfu 2009-07-03 03:49:24 PM
On the bright side, Tina Fey and Bill Parnell have some job security now.

You know, that "the first name in news" slogan, you don't HAVE to take that so seriously. They were the last source on Earth to confirm Michael Jackson's death, and they seem to be on the backend confirming Palin's resigning.

Befuddled 2009-07-03 03:49:42 PM
That Palin is so full of shiat doesn't bother me, that so many have developed such a zealous desire to lap up the shiat she spews is what I find troubling.

DamnYankees [TotalFark] 2009-07-03 03:49:47 PM
This is going to make Andrew Sullivan's day, that's for sure.

Ask Romney and 9u11iani and Huckabee and Edwards how well taking a break from public office works with Presidential runs

You know this is probably going to end with Palin strumming an acoustic guitar and singing "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue," right?

Svingen999 [TotalFark] 2009-07-03 03:50:46 PM
What's with this gasping, high-speed, rambling delivery? Something is definitely up. She's bordering on hysterics, don't you think?

I work with kids with disabilities, including some with Down's Syndrome. They're great kids and don't deserve mocking. That is the only I agree with Palin on.

Other than that, this is whrrblegrbl at level red.

Lets hope she stays that way.

Holy crap, that was a terrible speech. Although I lol'ed at "we need more Trigs".

I almost wonder what Wooley, Butler, and McAllister have on her.

Lost Thought 00 2009-07-03 03:52:23 PM
How long until she tries to un-resign, and blames Democrats for being obstructionist and not letting her resume her governorship?

I actually thought about that. I mean, it must be something nuts to make her do this. Who was the last governor/senator to resign and didn't do so due to a crime, sex scandal, or another job?
