Why stand around for four hours with your thumb up your ass? Just fire a SMAW into the house and just be done with it.

The house won on points.

Thats better than a 2 minute wrong house shoot the dog shoot the wife takedown.

Police went to the house in northeastern San Antonio after a 911 operator received a report about 10 p.m.

Wouldn't that be an awesome party game next time your neighbors go on vacation? You could sit on your porch and watch the fat farkers go all tough-guy on an empty house.

Reminds me of a standoff that happened with the empty house next door to mine when I lived in back in California. The cops surrounded the joint for two hours after a complaint of armed men breaking into it. Their demands for the people inside to come out with their hands up went unanswered, until finally a confused, elderly couple came out the front door. Turns out they were looking to buy the house, and didn't hear the cops because their hearing aids were out of batteries.

this
or worse
crazed people break into your house and you defend yourself
to death or life in prison

so yah, I prefer that they spend 4 hrs outside looking stoopid,
rather than going all rambo

I'm not entirely sure you're writing in English, but I have the vague feeling that I agree with you.

In fact calling a SWAT team to an empty house would be hilarious if it wasn't likely to get you in jail.

Are you in the house...alone?

but I guess that would make the house in the house alone, which brings me to "Yo dawg, I heard you liked empty houses, so I put an empty house in your house..."

/caffiene is bad kids, stay away. It's not a gateway, it is a bad end unto itself

"Damn! Those guys inside must be ninjas. It's been four hours, yet the house is totally dark, our infrareds aren't picking up anything, and parabolics haven't heard a peep!"

Go to a yard sale, thrift shop, or goodwill store and pick up a used, deactivated cell phone (pay cash). Next, go to a semi-remote area, and call 911 (works on otherwise deactivated phones). Then ditch the phone, head home, and bring out the popcorn.

That said, in order to prosecute you for misuse of 911, the police would have to prove it was malicious. As long as you saw someone enter the house, there's nothing they can say or do.

Sir, we've entered the house and found no trace of them. We had a complete perimiter; how did they get past us?!

I keep seeing these SWAT teams go up against empty houses and I'm tired of that.
I want to see them go up against The Gazebo!

they had this show called "Dallas SWAT" for a while. i dunno if it's still on. EVERY SINGLE TIME i watched that show, they raided the wrong house.

but it's Texas so you know. When i actually lived in Dallas, one of the guys that worked with me had just moved up to dallas from San Antonio. He said one night Dallas SWAT busted down his front door at 3am when a neighbor had allegedly heard 'gunfire'. after a nice apology and a month of badgering they got a check for the damage to their door from the city.

/still love Cheaters.

SWAT calls are sad. Would rather SWAT stay home and wait for the next "Day after Thanksgiving" riot at Walmart, than assault an empty house.

A friend of mine has a buddy that's on the Dallas SWAT team and I can tell you he is one of the biggest douche bags I've ever met. He is the personifies why people hate cops. Dave if your reading this, it's you.

Coiled Hot 1: if you hear a sudden pounding on your door, I suggest you don't answer it. Just sayin'.

/come to think of it, I guess it'd be if you heard a sudden pounding on your neighbour's door.

Step 1: cops call in fake 911 call themselves
Step 2: hours "negotiating" = overtime
step 3: profit

So... I've seen on the news plenty of times now where helicopters and certain kinds of vehicles can do a simple flyover and scan the house in infrared, day or night. No body heat signature, no people.

Protip:

If you are in a standoff with the cops and the SWAT team does finally enter the house, they will shoot and kill you even if you are asleep or try to surrender.

The SWAT team isn't there to negotiate or arrest you, they are there to kill you.

I'm with this guy. I'd much rather we err on the side of caution with this kind of thing... The occasional 4 hour empty house stand off is much better than they occasional unnecessary bloody massacre.

You're forgetting that some houses have DRUGS in them and everyone inside needs to be greased, kids and pets included, to purify the earth of the scourge of EEEVIL DRUGS. Dudes holding women hostage are merely exercising their rights as gun owners in a way that can get a little out of hand.
