FTFA: The board paid about $4,900 to have the logo designed by Madison-based Cricket Design Works

Paying this kind of money for a logo never ceases to amaze me. When I had my costume business & needed a logo, I went to worth1000.com & posted a $100 prize for the best logo.

After a week, I had 47 designs to choose from. Got a really cool logo for only $100. And the winner got to use it as part of his portfolio as a graphic designer.

Every logo or symbol used in Wisconsin ought to include a beer.. really, it's the WI way of life.

Mentat: That's not ironic. Is it? I don't know.

It's just an A in a circle. This seems like a case of seeing something where there's not really anything. If the two symbols meant the opposite, then I could see the irony angle. But it's not really opposite, so I'm gonna go with no. And I'm not even the Irony Police.

But we should continue with the unfortunate signage pics.

This is a wonderfully amusing case of considerable bureaucratic ignorance; such stupidity is quite sadly common these days. It is for that reason that this isn't ironic: even idiots like the ones who designed this should have known better and therefore not used that design. As in point 2 of my rant: it is not enough to be unaware, because even the smart and sensible people don't know everything. One must also be at least moderately bright before irony is possible.

An A in a circle. Isn't the anarchy symbol more anarchic than that - with the lines of the A drawn as slashes?

I guess "exactly" doesn't exactly mean exactly here.

As the state agency charged with running elections, the Government Accountability Board can't show favor for Republicans or Democrats.

But is it biased toward anarchistsDEMOCRATS?

Fixed for Accuracy.

In the last gubernatorial election, under orders from Governor Doyle (Democrat), they stripped the Republican Candidate of most of his campaign funds claiming they were illegal (later deemed perfectly legal), yet did nothing about the countless campaign contributions Doyle got from out of state donors. Doyle even sent government employees to PA to help one contributor who owed WI taxes. Note: In Wisconsin, it is illegal to take campaign contributions from sources outside of the state or companies not based in the state. Obviously, they only enforce it for Republicans.

WFT does the A stand for then?

Reminds me of a company that used to be downtown Milwaukee years ago. Every morning I would jog by this rather large building by the lake called "Professional Management Services" or something like that. All I could think was these people are supposed to provide smart business advice and their initials are PMS? They are no longer there.

There was another chicken add I saw once that was a great example of ad agency stupidity. It was so gross that I hesitate to even describe it. Needless to say, a guy buries his face in some bbq chicken and come up all bloody, talking about how great the "wings" are, or something like that. **shudder**

Whazzamatter? all butthurt because some right winger made a cheeky little attack on your messiah? well sorry you are going to have to get used to it.

Just like we had to get used to eight years of unrelenting attacks, out right lies, and outrageous demonization. so fark you.

For everyone else's clarification, the other 46 designs were drawings of cocks.

Having lived in Wisconsin for almost 20 years, I'd say this is a pretty appropriate symbol for state government, regardless of which party's running the show...

No, because there is no similarity, one is clean and represents the sun, the anarchy symbols are rough and worn looking with an A. It's just retarded. Obama's face looks more like the anarchy symbol then the logo.

Just be glad nobody got violent on your terrorist supporting, torture loving asses.
The unrelenting attacks against Americans who spoke out against failed policies and torture as unAmerican, out right lies by the CIA and intelligence sources they used, and outrageous demonization of anyone who went against your agenda would have justified anything they did, including assassinating Dick Cheney, any member of his OSP, and any CEO involved in war profiteering.

"Our role is to bring accountability to what could otherwise be anarchy," Kennedy said.

So they bring out the softer side of anarchy and clean it up a bit so it resembles our government a bit better....

I would be more for anarchy, but not enough to join an anarchist group that assembles and plans...

Perducci 2009-07-03 03:59:24 PM
Why does a government agency even need a logo? It's not like they have any competition or need to stand out and gain attention.

Just write the words "Government Accountability Board" in a nice font beneath a Wisconsin flag.

Is this what Anarchy is all about? I've never considered myself an Archist, but that's exactly how I feel. About everything!

Dan09: I think it's ironic that Anarchy has a symbol.

Well of course it has symbol. The Symbols and Images sub-committee as charged specifically by the Anarchy CouncilTM to "establish and promote...signs and symbols...to be used in representation thereof." It's clearly in the meeting minutes of Vol. 33.

Actually, it looks more like the kind of letter you'd see as a logo for a retirement home, inside of a tire.

My first thought, anyway.

When I needed a logo for a company I was tasked with starting up, I went to one of the best graphic designers I know and got the ideal logo and all necessary artwork absolutely free.

/My brother owed me that much
//When the owner sold the company, the buyer (who already manufactured the same type of product) bought it mainly for the logo and the image it portrayed.
