I have accounts at both places, but only use Myspace to communicate with two people. It does make me kind of sad. Facebook is so shiny and busy it gives me a headache, though. Being a pretentious jerk, I prefer Goodreads for my social networking.

bunner: tripperday: Myspace is a wasteland, but why would you turn down what is basically a fRee billboard, even in a wasteland?

What's the point?

No label is actually gonna ink somebody off of their myspace hits, it's just a pack of attention whoring kids, mostly, there's no way to actually make it DO anything other than sit there and beg for friends and hits.

It's pathetic.

I can make more people remember my songs and maybe want to buy my record in one hour on stage than in a month of whoring for play counts on some jive assed website where I might not even own my own songs after I upload them.

Live music really *does* sound better.

It can be difficult to find out anything about local bands. I once sat down in front of MySpace and looked up the bands that were playing Friday night and went to the one that seemed most interesting. I didn't waste my time with bands that had too much integrity to upload a few mp3s and a schedule to MySpace.

It's not a matter of integrity.

How did you search out only local, new bands playing in your area? Garageband.com does that, too.

It's about the music. Period. And if I thought that MySpace was an actual effective tool to get what I do as a recording artist or live performer across, I'd use it.

There are always going to be certain groups of people who figure out the zeitgeist behind everyone else.

And if they all dress like each other, act the same, and like the same crap...
then they're easier to identify as slow.

Facebook evolved into application shiat storm. Myspace has actually improved a lot compared to a few years ago.

DJMikeWazowski: Wow the author of that one is an asshat. Myspace has all the cutting edge web design of 1996. Same friggin' functionality for the most part, myspace is just annoying so most people don't use it.

These people who constantly play the race card are the ones who keep it in play. They make that kinda crap worse by shoving it down people's throats.

Mmmm fail.

Why are you such a self-important douche in almost every thread?
