Is it unveiling if they've had singles on their webiste for months and already played on a late night show?

Jack White sucks!

How did I do?

I am not really a fan but I think it's neat that he realizes that band names are brands and that by creating projects he doesn't limit himeself to churning out the same stuff using the same musicians over and over again.

i hate jack white and the white stripes!

/has a duo band
//tired of people comparing us to them solely because we're a duo with a chick drummer

Of course he does. Otherwise, his music would be completely unremarkable. Hand him a Shchecter and a Crate amp (not that I would wish that on anyone), and make him wear some regular clothes; then count his fans.

Jack sits alone in the woods in his cabin at night. No electricity, no internet, no phone line. he is alone and at one with nature. that's why his music is better than...uh?

Perhaps instead they could compare you to The Dresden Dolls, Death From Above 1979, Local H, The Black Keys, or No Age. Which brand of "meh" do you consider an appropriate yardstick?

I actually love white stripes but his whole attitude is about as logical as the vinyl crowd. nobody CARES, just put out the farkin music and don't make a spectacle of the fact that you get to buy more long black coats with the money you save on buying new digital gear every couple months. aghhh

bugmn99 2009-07-03 04:55:28 PM
Wow, that's so unlike anything he's ever done.

FTFA:

He is, it has to be said, a much better drummer than Meg White

Christ, what a low bar he's working with. The 15-year old kid I heard bashing out Chili Peppers and Zeppelin songs on a kit at the Guitar Center a couple of weeks ago is "a much better drummer than Meg White".

/Good luck Steve Green of West LA, keep practicing, stay away from hard drugs

I can appreciate that he likes doing things raw. I just wish he were a consistent performer. Some of his songs are masterpieces of simplicity and raw energy, others sound like a 12 y/o bashing on a guitar.

As was said, it evens out to a general meh kind of sound.

That's rubbish. The last Raconteurs album was so digitally compressed it was unlistenable. Great music, but terrible, horrible production and mastering.

I like Meg's drumming. It's perfect. Drummers, women, producers, bass players: If you notice them, they're doing it wrong.

Would like to have a word with you about the role of bass players.

Would also like a word re: drummers.

The Who FTW. I love the idea that if you said "Keith, could you just do bass drum on 1 & 3, snare on 2 & 4 with some 8th notes on that hi-hat you never seem to play", he'd down another Brandy Alexander and laugh at you and if you asked The Ox "Hey, it'd be nice if you just played 8th notes chord roots", he'd smirk and walk away.

Thank you Entwistle and Moon for liberating the rhythm section from the tyranny of lead singers and lead guitarists.
