I see the subjects of Queen Palin are still making her out to be a victim whenever criticized in the slightest. Par for the course, I suppose.

NCRider 2009-07-03 10:56:53 AM
So, McCain's campaign brought her in when Hillary was NOT selected by Obama as a running mate. The GOP was terrified of an Obama/Clinton ticket and was gearing up for a campaign about "experience".

When Hillary wasn't selected, they executed Plan B (in an Oh S@#t manner, it seems) and rolled out the only female they could find in the GOP worthy of consideration. That, in itself, is kind of funny.

So, they roll her out, in all the GOP celebrity they can muster (nice wardrobe, BTW) and tout her as having Executive Decision Making Authority of a tiny little budget (hey, I have Executive Decision Making Authority over my household budget and the remote control, so make ME President!)

Meanwhile, she's friggin' MILES away from understanding mainstream America. But hey, she can see Russia on a clear day and shoots dogs from a helicopter.

Remember how insane and long ago all that seemed? Remember the insanity of "Drill Baby Drill"? WTF is wrong with these people?

Do I hate Palin? No. Far from it. I LOVE PALIN. She's the greatest thing the wingnut GOP has done in a long time! She has single-handedly ensured the GOP is considered freakishly out of touch with American needs.

PALIN ROCKS!!

"Krauthammer" is an awesome last name. If I were born in the 1920s, I would change my last name to Krauthammer if I got drafted for the war. It would be great. I would be a Nazi-stomping Allied war hero.

and - yes, i don't hate palin. on the contrary, actually. i love palin because every time she opens her mouth, thousands of fence-sitting moderate republicans become independents or democrats.

and, hell, she pretty much single handedly ensured obama's victory last november, so i've got to love her for that.

heap: take a step back on this one. she advertises herself proudly as an attack dog (or a pissed off fish, depending on mood apparently) yet displays asspain the likes of which hasn't been seen since Mr. Hands if anybody even comes close to returning the favor.

She's laughed off the attacks on herself and correctly been upset by attacks on her children; you need to learn to differentiate between the two.

i realize the merits of my opinion are nil from your perspective, but you're downright topically delusional.

she whined, biatched, and moaned about katie farking couric for chrissakes. there wasn't even any attack there, just a lack of sufficient hand holding, and she let loose with asspain. asspain specific to the fact that she thought the interview should have been better tailored to attacking barack obama.

...

So anyway...

The first time I donated to Obama was about ten minutes after she made her community organizer crack at the convention. I don't care what your political party or your ideology, trying to paint someone as a loser because they turned down a high-paying law gig to work with poor people is just crossing the line, especially for a so-called Christian. I understand that politics is about turning your opponents virtues into vices, but that was the moment when I realized that the GOP had crossed the point of no return.

my only real problem with the VF article was that it was pretty much irrelevant. The elections were 8 months ago and it didn't really reveal anything, other than fine details, about stuff I didn't already know about Palin.

That said, I don't hate Palin. I was, however, scared shiatless that someone that absolutely ignorant was nearly 2nd in line to President and am still scared that people are still talking about her like she's a viable candidate.

kregh99 2009-07-03 11:28:35 AM
I see nothing wrong with hating stupidity, especially after what 8 years of stupidity has done to this country.

People like her and Bush embody stupidity.

kenposan:
I am afraid of her. Very afraid. Palin scares that shiat out of me. Why? Because she is

A) a moron
B) a hypocrite (more so than most politicians)
C) the right wing poster child of all things good and conservative despite (B).

She didn't care about McCain/Palin winning the election. She only cared about getting her name out there for herself. She doesn't care about Alaska. She doesn't care about the voters. She cares about her political career and her ambition.

So yes, she scares me.

It's not Sarah Palin's leadership that concerns us. like bush, she's a figurehead, propped up to woo the inbred morons whose votes are considered valuable, but whom we'll never see invited to the $1000/plate fundraising (buy-your-agenda) dinners. It's 4-8 more years of a Chenyeburton presidency. no, thanks.

run an actual conservative (not a jesusland/corporate shill hybrid) and maybe I'll give it some thought.

I don't think anyone really hates Sarah Palin. I personally hate that our system allows someone so unqualified, intellectually incurious, hypocritical, prevaricating, and manipulative to be a realistic contender for the highest offices in the land.

I mean, for God's sake, democratic government is supposed to produce a meritocracy. The best and brightest should be the ones who govern. Those who understand the law and how it is created. Those who understand science and logic and how to use them to govern. Those who understand the arts of politics and diplomacy.

Instead we end up with a handful of intellects lost among a sea of hucksters and snake-oil salesmen.

That's what I hate.

twister10 2009-07-03 11:37:29 AM

Which brings me to a question I've been asking for months of my liberal friends: Why do so many on the left have such an unhinged hatred of this woman? Why do so many alleged feminists and female members of the mainstream media openly and gleefully despise Palin?

I hate the argument that there's only a certain kind of feminism, but you know why so many women hate on Palin, especially feminists? It's because she is the queen bee, the mean girl; she is every conniving, manipulative biatch you have ever known in your life, and worse yet, she is the kind who has power and a fan base. She is loved and adored by people who willfully ignore how horrible she is, either because they want to be liked by her, want to be like her, or are afraid of incurring her wrath.

And the reason why feminists in particular hate on her is because she is the conservative male dream of the perfect political woman. She's a hot maternal figure who speaks of social conservatism but winks at you in a way that says "But I'm wild in the sack" while she's preaching about abstinence and Jesus. She's the sexy librarian, and it's an image she deliberately plays up to her advantage, not that I can really blame her. She's not about making life better for women in general by advancing social causes or bringing attention to major problems as much as she is about making life better for Sarah. It's not about an ideology or a cause so much as it is about her. Which I guess is a criticism that can be made of many, if not most politicians, but it's more grating to the feminist when a female politician plays into male concepts of what a woman should be. Even Mackinnon brings this up, saying that perhaps Dowd hates her because Palin is a threat - because she is married, a mother, and sexy, implying that these are all things that Dowd wants to be, or SHOULD want to be. Dowd, who, by the way, is actually quite nice looking despite being 12 years older than Palin.

And finally, it's fun to hate on Palin because she has proved herself such a disastrous train wreck. Anyone who has ever had to deal with the kind of person Palin is likely to hate or at least not like that person. But to be shown, over and over again, the many faults of that person as they flounder about on a national stage, blaming everyone but themselves, playing the victim as they are shown just how horrible, dumb, or otherwise petty or incompetent that they are, well, that's just pure schadenfreude. It's almost gleeful.

Exactly, I adore Sarah Palin as a GOP front runner in 2012. She is as dense as a bag of hammers, though.

iaazathot 2009-07-03 11:43:48 AM
I think what the case really is, is that the right can't hack the game they started. The left has learned to play nasty, because the right lowered the bar. Now, they are shrieking and crying that it isn't fair that they are having their asses handed to them with the same tactics.

Slurs on Palin pale in comparison to stuff said about Obama.

They have a record of claiming that they have the ability to read minds.

FTFA: "...Dowd "may be threatened or envious of Palin... or both. As an aging but still attractive woman, Dowd may resent Palin's good looks. Further, as a single woman of a certain age, she may be envious that Palin has a husband, a family, and has carved out an accomplished political career."

While not a fan of psycho-babble, it does seem to be a plausible explanation.

With regard to why Purdum, David Letterman, and other liberal males continually go after Palin, the answer might be as easy as they secretly lust after her while also seeing her as the "girlfriend of the quarterback" they could never get in high school. Seriously, look at the "men" who belittle Palin on a regular basis. For the most part, they fit the description of "the pencil-neck geek" from high school. Are they now trying to make Palin pay for their long-ago inadequacies? Is that why Letterman imagines her now as a "Slutty Flight Attendant?" Because she is his fantasy and rather than admit it, he strikes out at her?"

I came to these exact conclusions quite some time ago.

noneyourbase 2009-07-03 11:48:17 AM
Hate? More like amusement. Palin is a complete joke -- the fact that the Right still believes her viability tells you quite a bit about the state of her party.

That all might make sense until you're standing within ten feet of her.

That's when you can see the liver spots on her neckline where the Max Factor craquelure ends.

When the talking heads on right wing hate radio pick on the poor and the homeless thats known as picking on someone smaller than them.

Now obviously you con rejects had such terrible parents that they raised you to be bullyies so you actually enjoy it when one of your fellow retards picks on the least among us.

Timmins, Ontario, has an area of 1,143 square miles. It is more than twice the size of New York City and Los Angeles, four times bigger than the city of Chicago, and is 100 square miles less than all three of those put together. Think about that for a minute.

...aaaaand

She just fired the state's Public Health Director of 20-years+ because of minor disagreements on abortion. (new window)

This also cost us the state's chief medical officer, as he quit when Sarah wanted him to take over the health director position.

The issue? Sarah wants parents to give permission for abortion. The scientists pointed out what's happened in other states -- the delay leads to more risky, late-term abortions.

Sarah couldn't handle science, per usual, and vindictively fired people. Again.

The author asks why the unhinged hate for Palin.

The answer's simple: Modern liberalism doesn't work without enemies to hate. It pretty much goes back to Clinton's impeachment, but mushroomed in Florida 2000.

Since then, the vitriol has been near constant; only the targets shift.

A classic example was John McCain. Heroic story of surviving a Vietnamese POW camp and refusing to be let go earlier than his comrades there; lifetime of public service; repeatedly demonstrating his willingness to work with Democrats on major stuff; demonstrated willingness to work on environmental issues, immigration reform, etc.

Maybe all that's not good enough for a Democrat to vote for the guy. But to respect him? It should have been unquestionable.

Instead McCain was tarred as "four more years of George W. Bush," a sentiment beyond ridiculous. I read Farklibs in here gleefully discuss McCain's ability as a pilot, attack him for his age and rationality, etc.

That's just one example. Obviously the way liberals went after Palin was grossly unfair, up to and including repeatedly involving her children in the smears.

"What if the same thing was done to Sasha and Malia?" The question's been asked to the hate-filled idiots countless times. Doesn't slow them down in the slightest.

There's a doctoral dissertation in psychology waiting to happen on liberal hate.

Conservatives use the word "hate" because they are unaware that there are varying levels of dislike or disapproval.

They can only identify with "hate".
