Well, this is a song from Bad. So that should count.

I think Badwas more a 1985-6 thing (mid-80's. Splitting hairs, I know. What it comes down to is I'm a huge fan of Off the Wall and Thriller, but could never get into the rest of it.

Oops. FOr some reason my brain didn't process the part in the paranthesis.

Not-very-interesting tidbit: the Rihanna song "Don't Stop the Music" uses the mama se mama sa stuff as its baseline. Little homage.

I gotta say I've been endlessly fascinated with Jackson this week. Reading lots of article, listening to the music, watching the 2 interviews. I mean - this dude was beyond nuts, but his music was so good, its just a freaky thing. How is it possible that he never did a single interview in the 80s? Like, not one. He was probably the most famous entertainer on the planet and he didn't do a single interview during the peak decade of his fame.

nvmac 2009-07-03 01:02:23 AM
I've never been a real big fan of Michael, but that was farking spot on for a live performance.

I could have done without Britney signing, though. Just stand there and touch yourself or something honey.

kaminariko [TotalFark] 2009-07-03 02:20:03 AM
That was relatively disturbing...along the lines of Daffy Duck and Donald Duck singing a Broadway show tune duet. You know there's a metric ton of insanity bubbling under the surface, but it's still sort of fun to watch.

Not very interesting point: 'Pop' music these days sucks. And I'm only 35...far from a generational gap of big band and Rolling Stones.

You kids sorta suck. Not poitning this post at you *scrolls up* DamnYankees, but yes, current pop and, lord help me if they have the nerve to call it R&B again - it sucks.

/currently listening to Marin Gaye, and don't make me resurrect him to school you idiots on what he'd tell Rhianna...after he farked her

Same age.

Current pop music is horrible. Same can be said for what they call "R&B" these days. There used to be good rap, but it got suffocated out with the gangsta craze (which subsequently lost the rest of its credibility when high-profile stars like Ice Cube started making family movies).

Hard rock/nu metal is about the only contemporary music I can stomach. At least the screaming doesn't sound Autotuned and over-processed.

Pop, just like in the past, has good spots and bad spots. Maybe you are that senior citizen you always dreaded you'd be. My grandfather used to call the Beatles the "kickers and the screamers".

There is good pop....

M.I.A.
Outkast
Lily Allen

While none of the above are my favorite, they make some good music.

Pop was just as bad in the 80s.... I mean come on... Samantha Fox was popular. She was DREADFULLY bad.

Wow, it's bad when her recorded voice is playing next to MJ actually, you know, SINGING. But it's when she actually starts to, um, "sing", my god.

Half assed dancing, half assed acting, half assed performing. She gets totally shown up here.

Not even fair really.

I loved how she appears to throw michael off when she starts lip syncing on stage, like he wasnt expecting it. God that biatch needs to thank god shes hot and there are voice processors because if it wasnt for that she would be barefoot in a trailer park or just some lawyers mistress.

Too bad britney couldnt have died and served as the wake up call some artists needed.

This is getting as bad as Princess Di! Look, he was no better at dancing than the most mediocre mime on the street. The moves were all done before by others. He just borrowed a bunch of them and put it together. As for his "music"...what music? He sounded like he had the hiccups and gas. When he was a kid, he could sing. After that...nothing worth listening to. I hated it then...loathed the "Thriller" phase...and I still hate it.

Sorry to bust nuts all over your hate parade there, but MJ is the one who came up with the moves that you say he "borrowed" from others.

I know you were too busy shopping for Bruce Dickinson wrist bands and cutting up your Judas Priest t shirts to notice, but ... the more y'know ....
