If the male were snipped, or the woman had her tubes tied.. or both had it done.. would people still have a problem with them farking?
I mean.. if the law is written with the best interest of possible mutant offspring in it.

Yes. I find it extremely problematic that people who were raised together in a family as siblings or almost-siblings would develop a sexual relationship, even if they are not related by blood. I'm not sure if that's an instinctive reaction related to the fear of genetic abnormality or just the desire to preserve the basic familial social structure, which obviously would be significantly, and I think negatively, altered by there being a sexual relationship between the children or between a parental figure and child.

Or: when I think of a family unit, I think of [parent/guardian figure(s)] (gender or sexual orientation irrelevant) + children. And nobody gets it on in this social unit. Because that would f*ck everything up, pun sort of intended.

Personally, I never had any desire to be intimate with my sister. That is not due to any high-minded sense of society, or even genetic selection...

The bish was just plug-ugly. No way I could have done ANYTHING with that flabby hagbeast.

basic familial social structure.... this is the argument against gays. and it doesnt hold water. the only argument the government should have to interfere in incest is when there is intent to produce children or have produced children. producing children in an incestuous relationship is blatantly negligent and most likely to produce a burden on the state.

What two consenting adults do behind closed doors is NOT the governments business. feel free to ostracize them tho, just remember people feel the same way about gays.

There's a couple that I use to go to church with back in the day. They have 5 kids. 4 of them have major mental retardation, the other is only mildly mentally retarded. Obviously they don't reproduce well.

However why should it be perfectly legal for them to keep squatting out kids but different for incest couples? I don't even believe they have an increased chance of genetic problems until it goes down the line a couple times.

Or if it is non-consensual. But that already falls under sexual assault and rape laws.

Eve was Adam's clone, otherwise known as a time-delayed twin. Incest from day one. Lot's daughters got him drunk and seduced him. Noah's grandchildren had no one to marry except their first cousins. Leviticus says we can sell our daughters into sexual slavery.

You might want to make sure your high horse isn't a Shetland pony next time.

Only 16 people have been arrested in Idaho on the charge of incest between 2004-to-2008 - a list which includes only one woman.

Eight of the 16 arrested have been juvenile males, according to ISP reports.

Statewide figures for 2009 are not yet available.

I am going out on a limb here, at least on Fark, and asking:

Why is this a crime? Why does the local government have a law on the books that delves that deeply into someone's sex life?

Homosexuals, adulterous spouses, and abortion advocates take note:

THIS IS ABSOLUTE BULLSHIAT!

I'm still trying to figure out if "half-brother" means a gimpy offspring, but if they were using protection and both were consenting, then it's just gross. They charged him with it because they needed something to hold him while they worked the original complaint, which was missing from the article (great job, journalists).

I am alarmed by "it's just gross" laws because eventually someone is going to make one to use against me at the office when I go to the toilet.

HALF-sister, asshat.

And while I think it's farking gross, if they're using protection and having a good time, even with the linebacker neck, what farking business does the state have outlawing it? I'm assuming at 35 and 30 that neither party was "being taken advantage of".

Royal families inbred for generations. And 99.99% of people will never do incest. But, unlike other felonies, incest harms no one. It's just sex. If it's with a minor, that's one thing, but if two siblings wanna bump uglies who cares? There's killers and thieves out there, they should be in jail. Not these two who thought a family affair was a literal thing.

And everyone thought marrying turtles was next.

Ed Grubermann: Eve was Adam's clone, otherwise known as a time-delayed twin. Incest from day one... Noah's grandchildren had no one to marry except their first cousins.

To be fair:

Adam and Eve would be as close to "genetically perfect" as you could get. The argument against incest and the resultant kids are to prevent the genetic defects from multiplying and being amplified.

Noah's family would also be a special case that was ordained by God. If he can impregnate a virgin woman, and create man from nothing, then he certainly can make sure that the entire human race doesn't become retarded because he limited the gene pool artificially.

As far as I remember individual incidences of incest don't massively increase genetic problems, it is more a problem if very close relations repeatedly inbreed for a number of generations. If the family is known to have certain recessive genetic diseases then the chances of it being a problem is very significant of course.

accelerus 2009-07-03 04:21:19 AM
I don't support incest because there are problems with it... but why is the hammer coming down so hard on the guy? What's most important is "was it consensual?"

Incest (and homosexuality) occurs in the animal world, incest was selectively practiced by the old school monarchy in England for "royal blood purity".

And I'm sure 80% of people here (if they were honest) would admit to having a hot ass cousin they would love to bang.

The religious angle is moot because if the bible beaters have it their way, aren't we all a product of incest from adam and eve? I mean they had kids - but who did the kids make babies with? They don't support it, but by their own logic it existed and was good (other wise we wouldnt be here).

Outside of food, sex is one of the most primal and natural things written into our DNA, denying it, and writing all sorts of crazy laws to quell it just brings up problems down the line. I'm not saying the guy doesnt have problems, but Life in prison? lighten up.

Are you farking kidding me?

I'd really like to see our governments spend just a little less time worrying about what consenting adults do with their genitalia.

A few of our government officials who have no business worrying about what consenting adults do with their genitalia:

John Edwards
Eliot Spitzer
Rudy Giuliani
Jim McGreevey
David Vitter
Gary Condit
Larry Craig
Mark Foley
Gary Hart
Bill Clinton

When I was a kid there was a couple who played in the County Band and they'd bring their six kids with them to concerts.
Years later I saw that Gary Larson cartoon "Where Beef Jerky Comes From" and I immediately remembered that family.

It was widely whispered that the couple were brother and sister. The brother looked like...well...he was the most overlookable person I'd ever almost seen- biggest impression he made in a crowd was the sudden stop when people tried to walk through the space he was occupying. His wife more than made up for it- she kind of looked like a cross between a hypothyroid Harry Potter and Bullwinkle the Moose and had the social graces of a badger with hemorrhoids. I suspect that he learned to be silently invisible so that she couldn't easily find him- she wore coke bottle-bottomed glasses.

I was a little afraid of her.
