InmanRoshi: Considering it was Limbaugh and the Republican spin machine's politicizing of Paul Wellstone's funeral that angered and motivated Franken to move from political satirist to political activist, drinking the sweet, sweet tears and must taste extra refreshing.

I don't mean to say it's not funny because of Franken. He's a funny guy. He's just not the kind of comedian that gets you to laugh at how farked up the world is. It's not his style. His comedy is usually self deprecating, with him playing either a putz or an arrogant failure. Maybe Carlin or Hicks could make it funny, because that's what they did, made you laugh at the farked up world.

Franken and then partner Tom Davis were the most prolific writers of SNL during the "glory years" (with no small help from certain South American chemical agents) and wrote most of the sketches from 75-79, so something tells me his comedy "style" has range. Of course, the notable exception might be when Carlin hosted the very first show which was a complete and total unfunny trainwreck.

but also (personally) quite well-liked, by political ally and opponent alike.
