Gee, the term "sci-fi" has included fantasy before there was a Sci-Fi Channel.

I am with most people here and think if you want to regenerate interest in you channel, better programming and not a new stupid name is in order. I bet you could get a lot of viewers for the hanging of the people behind 99% of their original movies.

And I wonder if the name change might even lose them viewers. People don't look for networks with funny names. They might be looking for some sci-fi though. Indeed if they have to rebrand, get a name that is instantly recognizable as genre. And not hope that people remember or figure out that SyFy is a play on Sci-Fi. Still "sci-fi" is simple and to point.

I just registered "SyFyLys.com" via DreamHost, LOL....

Once everything gels, I will host a protest "Anti-SyFy" site.

On a side note, the execs are so blind to what a bad name "SyFy" is, that they did not register the obvious anti-SyFy Syfylys domain name, though they did do a host of others.

Any ideas one what to post on the site? Just about anything goes. I'm thinking a parody site, mimicking some of their pages, but with more absurd programming descriptions, etc....

What's in a name? I don't care what they call themselves, if they show stuff I want to see I will watch. They do great when they make there own scripted shows, but they fail in movies, 'reality' and the stuff they buy pretty badly. BSG and Eureka are great shows and if they spent a little more time and energy getting shows like that out they could call themselves 'this channel sucks, so don't watch it' and it still would.

I am not upset about the name, I am upset that the channel that is suppose to be sci-fi doesn't seem to show enough.
