Keep up the crazy Rush, keep it up right until someone shoots at the Whitehouse, or trys to fly a plane into it. Wait a minute, that was in the 90's, the last time Rush was railing against a Democratic President. MMMM

I can only think of a few people that I know in the military that listen to this clown... I outrank them, so there.

aba [TotalFark] 2009-07-02 02:34:13 PM
He's becoming more and more inflammatory in hopes of someone finally just saying "stop" so he can scream "FIRST AMMENDMENT BLAH BLAH BLAH." It's win-win for him. Either someone eventually caves in and actually does something, or someone steps up and tries to get him off the air and he gets to scream about his freedoms.

This will continue until the conservatives take power, or Rush/O'Reilly pass away.

If a recent Vanity Fair article is to be believed, the average age of Limbaugh's audience is 67. I don't think you have anything to worry about there.

This is pretty much playing to the Wing Nut base, and the Chicken Hawks who love him.

Pretty much most of the military people I know, are happy as hell to getting the hell out of Iraq, and while they're not happy about Afghanistan from a logistical or deployment point of view, they all pretty much agree that more troops, and greater resources need to be shifted there--not just for safety's sake, but for the over all mission.

Rush loves to talk tough, but it's about as deep as PETA...

bobbette [TotalFark] 2009-07-02 02:37:50 PM
He has to step it up since Glenn Beck is encouraging Osama to attack America again. He's been out-crazied for a week, and on TV.

For those not keeping track of right-wing agitator logic:
- calling for international terrorists to attack your country: NOT treason
- calling for the illegal overthrowing of the US government in total violation of the Constitution, with or without a military component: NOT treason.
- disagreeing that a foreign war in Iraq is necessary: treason.

WTF.

Yeah, what is needed is for some dirty tricks team to hack into his home computer and plant some horrifying stuff on it. Mess around with his bank accounts to make it look like he is donating to Muslim charities. And best of all attach his name to shell companies that he does not report the profits to.

In the end he will not be convicted, but the exposure will kill his career as a radio personality. Problem is that Rush wants the Democrats to come after him... so the only way to deal with him is surreptitiously.

Oh, low blow!

I agree with you about the military side. I recall from when I was in that one of our bigger fears was being sent somewhere half assed. Several of my fellow Marines had served in Beruit, including one I remember lost several friends in the truck bombing of the barracks. He told us all several stories that were clues to me that :1. More stuff went on there than is widely known and 2. He was still bitter about not being allowed to do more, hit back, you know what I mean? Either go in all out, or get out. Coincidently, he seemed very pleased about the massive build up for the first Gulf War, always commented about how it didn't look so half assed.

It would not surprise me at all if some person inspired by Rush Limbaugh's antics--whether direct or indirect--makes some sort of "revolutionary' move.

To paraphrase Mr. Limbaugh, "I hope he fails. What is unfair about my saying I hope Limbaugh fails? Limbaugh is our problem. Limbaugh is what's gotten us dangerously close to the precipice here."

Obama has been President for 6 months.

Before he became President, conservatives mocked him as having no experience.

After all, he was just a community organizer. Thats not a real job!

Now, of course, he is responsible (along with Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank) for making America a Muslim socialist country, inviting terrorism, and killing Michael Jackson.

just a few weeks ago he was all about how the stimulus spending was not going to start until right before the midterm elections, you know so the Dems could buy their way into office. Now he is all about how the stimulus isn't working. before that he was saying how the illegals should vote for conservatives because "George Bush and John Mccain practically wrote the defeated immigration bill last year", except when the bill came up to vote he said it was hand written by Pelosi and Kennedy.

RemyDuron 2009-07-02 09:01:45 PM
You know what? I don't care. Really. I don't care what Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly, or Coulter have to say. No one who believes them is going to be convinced they are wrong by rational argument and facts, and no one rational believes them.

So let him yell and scream and rant, and people will listen to him, and that's too bad, but publicizing it in this manner is not going to do anything to make people stop believing him.

Sure, if someone is spreading deliberate misinformation in what appear to be trustworthy news sources, report on that and correct it, but no one needs to be informed everytime Rush says something retarded or offensive. MediaMatters and Crooks and Liars occasionally play an important role, but with articles like this all they are doing is feeding liberals' egos and conservatives' persecution complex.

No one tunes into Rush Limbaugh expecting anything else but the most right wing slant on everything. Either they believe that and you aren't going to convince them its wrong with facts on a web page, or they know it's slanted and don't need to be told.

This

Liberals just don't like his opinions so they nitpick lines and hope they can get some justification for censorship.

Standard leftist hyperbole...

An a.m. radio talk show host disagrees with the politics of our beloved president and legislative branch! He must be stopped! Any counter opinion to the desires of the politicians in power is hate speech and dangerous! His listeners are dangerous to the common good as well! We should find some way to identify them! Make them wear some kind of mark or patch so we can know who these enemies of the state are! Take there means so it can't be used against us! Sieg Heil!

Limbaugh: So we've got hell breaking loose in Honduras. You know what we learned about Honduras? We learned the Obama administration tried to stop the coup. Now what was -- the coup was what many of you wish would happen here, without the military.

The next day, describing Obama talking to troops about the withdrawal from Iraq, he described the president thus:

"This is a guy who sought their defeat."

And then yesterday, he expanded on these thoughts even further:

This is Barack Obama, who led from the United States Senate his party into doing everything he could to ensure the defeat of the U.S. military. ... This party was doing everything it could to impugn and dishonor the military.

All true...what's the problem? Is Limbaugh supposed to say Obama was a big supporter of the troops while he was in the Senate? He'd be lying if he did that. Are we supposed to pretend that Obama is no longer a traitor because he's POTUS now, even though everything he has done as POTUS is designed to destroy the United States?

Standard leftist hyperbole...

An a.m. radio talk show host disagrees with the politics of our beloved president and legislative branch! He must be stopped! Any counter opinion to the desires of the politicians in power is hate speech and dangerous! His listeners are dangerous to the common good as well! We should find some way to identify them! Make them wear some kind of mark or patch so we can know who these enemies of the state are! Take there means so it can't be used against us! Sieg Heil!

In the entire history of the world the stupid have never been singled out for persecution, it is simply not necessary for any government to do anything special to control you.
You just need a pat on the head and a straw man to play with.

vernonFL: RemyDuron: I don't care what Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly, or Coulter have to say.

I'm convinced that Ann Coulter is an act. She is Andy Kauffman in drag.

Rush believes maybe half of what he says, he's a polemicist and makes a fortune at it.

Hannity, I think he really believes it.

Hannity is no Andy Kauffman, he's too stupid. He isn't joking.

I think you're right about Limbaugh, but I think Coulter is in the same boat. The is probably actually super-conservative, bust most of her crazy statements are just her controversy-whoring. Hannity though. . . I think he both believes it and sees it as a path to career advancement. He's a career suckup who will believe whatever his superiors want him to believe.

Glenn Beck is the best bet for a Kaufmann, IMO. He's either completely insane or completely brilliant. Kaufmann didn't seem like he was faking Tony Clifton either, in fact there is some belief that he actually was kind of crazy (Tony loved oral sex, Andy did not, and it's hard to fake sexual arousal or fake not being aroused). The fact that Beck is the most outrageous and the most seemingly genuine makes him the most likely to be a faker. Although odds are he's just milking it like the rest.

Noam Chimpsky: Limbaugh: So we've got hell breaking loose in Honduras.

Hell yes, he's a traitor. We elected him under the assumption he'd have dissolved the United States by now. I want to see you suffer, you worm. I don't care if it destroys the nation, I want Obama to take away guns and then free prisoners. I want a socialized economy, no matter how it hurts my profits. I want to see Christianity outlawed.

He hasn't done any of that yet. I want more action. I want banned private insurance, I want cars that get fewer than 35 mpg to be illegal, I want a gun ban on any caliber larger than 22. I want rivers of blood. I want abortion and gay marriage to be legal in all 50 states. Obama hasn't delivered on any of that stuff so far.

I want you and your ilk to suffer through the agonizing death of your country, knowing there's nothing you can do to stop it, and I'll be laughing the whole time, because I like Europe better anyways. I want all TV to be run by the government so that they can show the footage of Israel being wiped off the map by Islamic nuclear weapons 24/7. I want Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly to be publicly executed for speaking against the President.

I want apocalypse and this prez of ours isn't delivering yet. I just hope he can pull it off before 2010. Election season is such a bore.

There's a very easy way to stop Limbaugh from encouraging a military coup... Just enact a draft for it.

Limbaugh wouldn't be able to get to the front of the line for the 4-F handouts soon enough with his anal pimples on display for all to see.

Speaking of which, it's a weird circle of life for Limbaugh... going from displaying his anal pimples to old doctors in the 1960's to showing them off to young DR's 40 years later...

If he lives to the end of his show, we let him do it all again tomorrow. He either gets a massive coronary and falls over the microphone or he learns to STFU and get in shape while orchestrating fair and balanced political commentary without being a Republican Goebbels and a coward.

Either someone eventually caves in and actually does something, or someone steps up and tries to get him off the air and he gets to scream about his freedoms.

My thoughts exactly. He's going to keep ratcheting it up until someone says or does something that he can play the victim and the martyr over.

Then he'll start the cycle over again.

THE most important thing for the American right at the moment is for their propagandists to convince them thoroughly and irrevocable that they are victims. And they're willing to glorify attacking their own country in order to do it.

I can think of few things less likely to happen than a military coup in this country.

Jesus coming back, for one. Or Rush getting it up without Viagra.

Hey, great idea, Crooks & Liars!

There's nothing like exacerbating counterproductive political sentiments instead of defusing them easily.

I mean, how many clicks would you have counted had you not hastily connected the dots, and refuted Limbaugh's argument on an intelligent, non-DID-YOU-HEAR-THAT-OMG!!!!! manner.

But I get it -- it's all about clicks and ad revenue and there's no better way to do that than to go for the quick, Fark-stirring sucker punch. Gotta make money somehow, and there's nothing illegal about doing it in an intellectually dishonest manner.

Sociology is the same.

These folks take orders. They get punished if they don't. Anyone using troops against US Citizens would also be pumping the soldiers full of propaganda.

That's David Niewert for you. In my brief look at what he clipped, it didn't seem like Rush was calling for much more than us liberals called for during much of the Bush years.

I've been unimpressed with Niewert for years. He seems to think that he is the big defender of civil liberties but mainly he comes off as a scold that hates free speech for anyone but himself.

Summer is here again.

Avoid large crowds - there are going to be a bunch of farkers in blackface trying to stir things up like in Iraq.

OK, meanwhile, on planet Earth, thanks to everyone in the armed forces who has to put up with this shiat. You are apparently making an even greater sacrifice for your country than we knew.

And remember, kill the bankers first, freaky wingnutty Travis Bickle wannabes!

Oh, and keep your powder dry - that weird yellow shiat you snort, I mean. Be sure to leave a nice manifesto in red crayon for us to ooh and ahh over during your 15 minutes.

Just know that no matter how many Americans you kill, a farking pedophile will get more press than you.

And for the record, the FBI has several open investigations currently involving Fox News anchors for "provocative" language - that's "incitement" for those on the other side of teh pond.

You give these morons enough rope and they'll hang themselves just like David Carradine, and for much the same reason - they cannot control their sick desires.

/My apologies to the Carradine family who was not in the LEAST surprised by his end.

RemyDuron: Glenn Beck is the best bet for a Kaufmann, IMO.

Back when Beck was on 970 WFLA in the Tampa market, he was pretty much completely sane, I liked to listen to him because while he was pretty much right wing on everything, he'd be willing to take the other side when that side made more sense. He certainly wasn't the sort of wingnut who was hoping for terrorist attacks that he is now, and if anything, he was more of a libertarian bent.

The one thing he would do periodically, and which leads to the theory that he's a faker, would be to do a bit where he'd take some kind of extremely ridiculous position, the people who were listening before the drive time hour would be in on it and call in to keep it going. Unless you knew that he was pulling one of those stunts, you'd think that he actually believed whatever it was that he was going on about because he was always really good at never breaking character. It was like IRL trolling of his listening audience, and most of the time when he did it he'd be arguing really extreme right-wing positions that he had made it clear beforehand that he didn't believe.

I think somewhere along the line, he realized that no matter how extreme he went, people would agree with it, and that the more crazy he acted, the more money he'd make. That's the only explanation that makes sense given what he was like in the past. Either that or he's just plain gone nuts.

That's a great story. Limbaugh really got his start here in Sacramento in the 80's and I vaguely remember him on the local air. But I'm pretty sure he hasn't changed all that much, if anything, he's become more unyielding in his views. One of the reasons I stopped listening to him even occasionally.

And again, that brings us back to Hannity being the 'true believer?'

I dunno. I almos think that title is too good for Hannity. I think he's just a suck up. He may really believe it, but it's not because HE believes it, but because Rush Limbaugh believes it.

I don't like Hannity. Beck is the craziest, but Hannity is the most infuriatingly douchy. Coulter and Limbaugh are just trolls.

O'Reilly is probably the most talented of the bunch. Maybe not the smartest, but he's a god damn master in his format. Sure, he falls like a house of cards if you take him out of his show (though he stood up okay on the Daily Show, although Jon has never gone all Jim Cramer on his ass), but on his show he's a wizard. I think, in that way, he's comparable to Olbermann. I think he's a worse person, but I think they are both more about putting on an entertaining show, and their politics is just the niche they've found.

nekom: If a recent Vanity Fair article is to be believed, the average age of Limbaugh's audience is 67. I don't think you have anything to worry about there.

My mother is 67. She exercises five days a week, ran a marathon last year, has all her teeth, low blood pressure, and a great body for a woman of her years. She's one of the leading edge Boomers.

67 isn't old anymore, folks. People in their sixties still have good eyesight, steady hands, and plenty of stamina. And think clearly enough that stupid ones could take a shot at someone if St. Rush told them to.

I remember O'Reilly handled David Lettermen pretty effectivly, too. In a lot of ways, I like Olbermann. I don't agree with a lot of what he says, but I like his show more than O'Reilly's. Olbermann used to have a show that ran Sunday nights on Fox Sports Net that was called the Keith Olbermann Evening News or Sports Report or such. I thought that was a great show! A better version of some of the stuff Costas does, I thought. The early Countdown was good, too. But along the lines one of two things happened:

1. He just had enough...of the Bush Adminstration. Took the show into a harder edge, highly critical of the adminstration-especially with his formidable Special Comments and along the way provided a voice for frustrated liberals, increasing his ratings and visibility along the way.

2. He had enough...of getting trashed in the ratings, decided to reach out to frustrated liberals by shifting to a harder edge, very critical of President Bush vehicle in order to boost his ratings and visibility.

In other words, I'm saying his "I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!" stance is genuine and heart-felt. Or it's a persona desighned to generate better ratings.

Oh, and I totally see the Hannity suck-up to Limbaugh angle, you can see that he just wants to be like Rush so bad! Kudos Sean, you might just be worse.

That fat prick knows he's at the end of his life and he's getting the same urges that Cheney has, they all want to make their mark on the world before they dissolve in the ether. So they do and say crazier and crazier shiat as the days go on. If they can kill a million people or cause an uprising in their home country, they succeed.

Aaargh! Here's a tip kiddies: Don't get old.

Although Limblabb started as a regular radio talk show host in 84, it's unlikely that he was on AFRTS way back then. I can't find a source that says when they picked him up. Sygerrik: Noam Chimpsky: Limbaugh: So we've got hell breaking loose in Honduras.
