WINDOZE SUCKS.

That is all.

Anyone seen my pants 2009-07-02 08:29:48 PM
Wow. That has got to be one of the most tasteless ads I've ever seen. And I seen a lot of ads.

/thank god no gag reaction was induced
//hates the idea of puke
///hates cleaning it up more

Backdraft32 2009-07-02 08:33:06 PM
I usually cut MS some slack, seeing as their OS generally keeps me employed, but that is quite possibly the worst commercial I've ever seen, in both quality and idea. Horrific.

Babies with Rabies [recently expired TotalFark] 2009-07-02 08:33:22 PM
To be perfectly honest, I find it completely reprehensible to be digging around through someone else's browser history (email, member websites, game sites, dating sites, whatever) and, in light of this, that woman deserves whatever mind-numbing horror she got to see.

Flying Code Monkey 2009-07-02 08:40:22 PM
So that's what gorgor looks like. I thought he'd be younger.

PrinceOfPersia 2009-07-02 08:44:00 PM
Knowing what someone else beats off to is NEVER good for the soul. You don't want that much information about any person, even sex partners. A couple of somewhat grimy friends leaving certain types of .wmv files on the desktop tends to REALLY make you hate the keyboard grime. I'd rather suffer using my phone than another person's laptop after that.

The advert really did suck in execution. The idea would be fine if it was about quarter of the run time and focused on the fact that someone else finding out that you get touchy-feely to german midget scat bestality is gonna suck, which is kinda the bigger point about the bloody feature in the first place.

I feel sorry for Dean Cain. He's the real victim here.

Subby fails, the AD was for Internet Explorer

/And I thought that the AD was funny
//And they were at least honest as to the use of the privacy mode, unlike every other browser maker out there
//FF 3.5 FTW

IQ7ZuuIU 2009-07-02 09:07:31 PM
If they would have done this same ad using 'Family Guy' cartoon characters, they would have gotten away with it.

/With a little 'Giggity' at the end by Quagmire after he looked at the same screen.

mrEdude 2009-07-02 09:32:44 PM
Well, Dean Cain, not so SUPER now, are we?

/blech

Still better than those ads with the fast talking.

I loved the ad! Very Funny!

moothemagiccow 2009-07-02 09:59:19 PM
I think we need a WTF tag for this

dramatools [TotalFark] 2009-07-02 10:11:31 PM
Microsoft can't even do a shock ad right. Nobody's going to buy Internet Explorer because of its new privacy features. Nobody's going to buy Internet Explorer at all. It's free, remember? And for preventing yak-inducing history, Firefox and Safari are right there too. The best part of this spot is Microsoft gave Superman a job.

dork falling into the puke= Priceless
the only problem with the ad was the part where she was drooling,
wouldn't it be easier to show what she saw? Then everyone could puke together

Gordon Bennett 2009-07-02 10:35:55 PM
better (new window, more puke)

bingethinker [TotalFark] 2009-07-02 10:39:51 PM
Given the lies they've been paying people to spread online, it's not a surprise that their TV ads are disconnected from reality.

Zeebie 2009-07-02 10:58:48 PM
Seriously, I can't be the only person who laugh at that ad. specially the ending.

Windows!

It'll make you puke!

/yes, they deserved to die.

Sure, the ad was stupid, but if you claim you're 'offended', then sorry, but you're a pussy.

lilbjorn 2009-07-02 11:27:31 PM
dramatools: And for preventing yak-inducing history, Firefox and Safari are right there too.

... and have been for quite some time. Maybe Microsoft should tout something they thought up all by themselves. Oh, wait ...

Architecture Of Aggression 2009-07-03 12:07:02 AM
as a fan of comedy I'm farking offended. it was a stupid ad that adhered to zero rules of funny. I'm offended as a human that somewhere along the line, somebody thought that commercial was a good idea.

Surool [TotalFark] 2009-07-03 12:25:04 AM
Fire their whole marketing department. What the hell is wrong with these people? They keep greenlighting these crappy ad campaigns. Vomit? Really? I guess it beats those Seinfeld ads.

Still love the "Ha ha! We tricked you into using Vista... on carefully controlled machines in static conditions for a total of 5 minutes."

vicejay [TotalFark] 2009-07-03 12:26:28 AM
Much better: Family Guy puke-a-thon (new window)

Evil Cat 2009-07-03 12:40:24 AM
Must have been Windows ME. Who would do that to themselves?

Hell you must have begrudgingly upgraded from 3.1 you gluton for punishment.

Who are the ad wizards who came up with this one?!

the_sidewinder [TotalFark] 2009-07-03 01:52:37 AM
Also to note, this was a viral ad, so all this biatching about it is leading more people to see it, which fulfills its purpose

/Any publicity is good publicity?

Donnchadha [TotalFark] 2009-07-03 01:54:31 AM
Does this mean that Etrade puking baby is going away forever now too?

/Actually haven't seen him recently
//Maybe he's already gone... or I'm just blocking it from memory

I thought you were kidding, subby. You weren't kidding.

/Well, except for the "operating systems" part.

I actually thought the vomit ad was kind of funny. . .

and I thought the Signfeld ads were good

Phil Moskowitz 2009-07-03 06:42:29 AM
After the "Vista, it's so good you'll shiat" campaign was a huge flop you'd think they'd avoid this kind of problem.

King Keepo 2009-07-03 09:48:42 AM
Surool: Fire their whole marketing department. What the hell is wrong with these people?

Nothing, they just created a viral ad that they had to "drop" becasue people are "shocked" at how bad it is. They'll probably get a bonus for it.

I think it's kind of amusing in an SNL kind of way.

i took a huge Vista dump this morning.

To be fair, the site in question was really a Fark thread/flame war for PC VS Macs.

So I understand her vomiting.

I thought I picked out 'goat penis' at the end. But I think about goat penis a lot so it could just be me.

Also, I thought the ad was freakin' magnificent.

The fact that you think something has to adhere to "rules of funny" makes me question your expertise.

Fark_Guy_Rob 2009-07-03 03:34:31 PM
I thought it was a good commercial; but I also knew people would be offended by it.

Tokfume [TotalFark] 2009-07-03 04:11:36 PM
First off it wasn't about the O/S...thanks for yet another misleading headline subby, good work.
Second, I thought it was a riot. I am certain that almost all of you thought "block porn" when you heard about private browsing.

Nurglitch 2009-07-03 05:27:28 PM
Back when I worked as a rickshaw boy, I ask this guy if he wanted a nice romantic ride with his girlfriend. He told me to "fark off".

It was Dean Cain!

Spooooooooky.

cenobyte40k 2009-07-04 01:47:49 PM
That ad was awesome. I mean come on, no one dies, no graphic sex, just a little puke. People really need to get over themselves.

tnkirk 2009-07-05 12:50:50 PM
Did anyone else notice that the director of the ad was Bobcat? Definitely explains the sense of "humor" the ad attempts.
