PascalsGhost: Cap and Trade has proven to work great for environmental issues. Again, recorded history disagrees with the right wing stance.

What does "cap and trade" have to do with the stimulus bill?

Cap and Trade, and ObamaCare.

The "stimulus" package is doing great too. At least that was precise, streamlined, and wasn't filled with social programs.

It's never been tried on this scale, or anything close to it. Right?

Worked out great for Spain too.

But since all the polar bears are dying off, and I need to upgrade my polar bear jacket and slipper collection, something must be done!

occrider: I work for one of the banks that repaid tarp so I'm getting a kick and so and so ...

No seriously, the tarp money essentially sat in a holding account and did absolutely nothing because everyone was scared shiatless of having to account for how it was spent (god forbid some portion of it were used for standard BAU operations and the public would focus on some insignificant amount used on perceived waste resulting in a PR nightmare). Meanwhile, the government made out like a bandit on ridiculous dividend payments and warrants.

Sounds like a really smart move on the government's part, eh? Not that Bush intended it to be.

1. To achieve true independence from political parties, always make outlandish, demonstrably false claims, and when questioned on your silly views, demand the other person WAKES UP ALREADY.

Rules of Fark Liberalism.

1. Always point out how anybody who disagrees with you is a Republican, oops, a "Fark Independent", and how it's proved by the fact they disagree with you.
2. When a Democrat gets caught doing something, always point out how Democrats spank their own without bringing up Republicans doing the same thing, not like that time when the Republican got caught and we all heard about how bad Democrats were too, see, we're not doing that.
3. Make sure the other person understands how open minded and tolerant you are, unlike the mouth-breathing, inbred, bible-thumping, ignorant rednecks on the other side.
4. Always stress how much more educated a liberal is, but refuse to acknowledge that three is absolutely no statistical evidence to support it, and some that actually supports the opposite.
5. Always demand a citation, but always refuse to acknowledge any validity to the citations the back up a point you don't like. Make sure to pay particular attention to the source, because when you can't attack the message, you can always attack the messanger.
6. When, as often happens, somebody does call you on your crap, immediately go to the ad hominem, preferably by making repeated references to "Fark Independent".

You really want to play that game? The really amusing thing is that your partisan asshatery is every bit as idiotic and blind as those you biatch about.

Yes. I'm clearly guilty of all those things. I post maybe 10 times a week in Fark comments, and it's never more than 2-3 sentences, with the occasional history or civics lesson for those who want to pretend to not understand something. Not really. There just happened to be a lot more bad news for McCain. If you looked at the positive numbers in perspective to other sources of news, Fox News was still way off the reservation.

It looks like I owe GaryPDX an apology. Just finished a quick search, and while I didn't see anything in that (admittedly quick) search condemning the Bush admin's spending, I did see a couple of rails against some stupid taxes.

Therefore, I have to rule that the general penalty was on me...even if he does support the Bush tax cuts.

Sorry about that, Gary.
