For once I agree with the Fark Independents and I intend to steal the phrase "separation of corporation and state."

Unfortunately for all of us, neither churches nor corporations will accept being divorced from government. Churches have long since accepted their own sort of social contract where they have sharp limits on political power but most of their tenets are enshrined in law. But the corporations just keep buying bits of the government and farking with the little guy--as an investor I see them following their duty to make money for me, but as a little guy I them ripping me off. I think it's time to rethink the relationship between business and government, to a point.

Rev. Creflo Baller: separation of corporation and state

The state has to ordain the creation of a corporation. They're inextricably linked.

Funny, I thought it was just a registration. Churches have to do the same so their tax exempt.

'These two entities -- Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- are not facing any kind of financial crisis,' said Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee. 'The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing.'

Yeah. We're in real dire straits, what with our currency's value on the rise, our stock market on the rebound, and our government being accountable to the people again.

Gigantic failure of government right here.

Let's see here, massive expansion of government powers and a disdain for personal liberties? I think ole junior pretty much perfected this one.

Massive spending? Yup, 6 years of war funding on top of tarp vs. the stimulus package. Yeah, I'm thinking junior takes this one too.

I'm not sure what you're seeing, and I'm not exactly thrilled about this administration either, but the contrast is striking. Just backwards from what you're saying.

What's got your nickers in a knot about this administration? Why was the last one better? Could you be specific?

xria 2009-07-02 12:22:55 PM
occrider: I work for one of the banks that repaid tarp so I'm getting a kick and so and so ...

No seriously, the tarp money essentially sat in a holding account and did absolutely nothing because everyone was scared shiatless of having to account for how it was spent (god forbid some portion of it were used for standard BAU operations and the public would focus on some insignificant amount used on perceived waste resulting in a PR nightmare). Meanwhile, the government made out like a bandit on ridiculous dividend payments and warrants.

So does this mean banks now think it is a bad idea to try to destroy the world economy for their own short term gain then?

Maybe some good has come out of this...

I don't like parties (factions). We're being played, intentionally kept divided. It's way too much We, the Party and not enough We, the People. But I really don't like liberal hive ideology. In 2 days it's "Independence Day". Do you even remember what that means? I do.

huh? I've known the train wreck was underway since they started selling mortgages like used car loans. That was the Clinton Administration. It was building long before that too. Do you really believe there's some real difference between these two parties? They've been gaming us since the civil war.
