Depends upon what type of dungeon crawlers you're into. Are you more JRPG, American RPG, old school? And what system?

If you like the thought of having a horde of minions to do your bidding, Overlord II is good; and rather funny.

And to comment upon the porn games, back in the 80s, there were some porn games for the Commodore 64. I remember finding my stepfather's hidden stash when I was cleaning the basement. CGA graphics aside, I remember being impressed with the detail on the graphics.... kinda funny, the best pictures were devoted to porn games, but Bards Tale was horrid.

Japan puts out a ton of eroge games, which are hentai games by and large. Some of the larger, more popular ones get ether fan translations (Fate/Stay Night) or offical releases (like say, X-Change).

Fate was actually a interesting game, sex aside. Really epic story, so much that it spawned two sequals, a fighting videogame, an anime, and a manga.

Yea, there are always the Japanese games to tickle your fancy. Being female, the hentai doesn't appeal to me too much, but there are times. I never got around to checking out Fate/Stay Night. And yes, I am an otaku (hug anime collection).

I'll have to check it out. :) Thanks.

mecaenas: WTF is a calander?

From Wikipedia:

The calender is a series of hard pressure rollers at the end of a papermaking process (on-line). Those that are used separate from the process (off-line) are also called "supercalenders". The purpose of a calender is to smooth out the paper for printing and writing on it, and to increase the gloss on the surface.

The word "calender" itself is a derivation of the word kylindros, the Greek word for "cylinder".[1]

In the past, the paper sheets were worked on with a polished hammer or pressed between polished metal sheets in a press. With the continuously operating paper machine it became part of the process of rolling the paper (in this case also called web paper). The pressure between the rollers, the "nip pressure", can be reduced by heating the rolls and/or moistening the paper surface. This helps to keep the bulk and the stiffness of the web paper which is beneficial for its later use.

Modern calenders have "hard" heated rollers made from chilled cast iron or steel, and "soft" rollers coated with polymeric composites. This widens the working nip and distributes the specific pressure on the paper more evenly.

That, or subby failed 3rd grade English.

ah, these are actually pretty rare in this day and age. Really good ones only come out every few years, leading a lot of tournament players to play the same stuff over and over for years. We got a lot of these games due to the major tournaments depreciating several games, such as Street Fighter 3 3rd strike and King of Fighters.

This year has been a sort of rebirth, with all the major franchises getting some love. Also seeing re-releases of two classics this year, Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD, which we got this spring, and Marvel vs. Capcom 2, which is due in july.

-The Bigs 2. I don't play sports games very often these days but it reminded me of Baseball Simulator 1.000, which I loved way back when.

7/10 on trolling. Not bad.

As an uber-nerd, I have two projectors going through polarized lenses onto a 100" screen. Nvidia graphics cards have native stereoscopic support, so I am playing games in true 3D. Show me a console that can do that.

Cool! Same here, kinda :D Don't have to use Nvidia, either - I'm using ATI - iz3d has a driver you can use with either card set, and it works AMAZING. Fallout 3 *IS* better on PC, since ps3 can't do stereoscopic 3D!! :D and wow, G.R.I.D. is PHENOMENAL! :) I could go on, but anyway -

Just out of curiosity, did you use a paint screen, or buy one? I did a bunch of experementation to find a paint that would hold polarization right, but now I'm looking into finding some of the dolby 3d glasses (plus an extra set to cut apart and use for filters); they supposedly work on non-silver screens really well, and have a much higher extinction rate than polarized filters. I have no problem with the silver, but I moved to the dual-projector 3d setup from a single projector on a light grey screen, and I liked the picture quality on grey a lot better, so...

Anyway, good gaming! :)

I went to berezin.com to buy a DaLite screen, glasses, and 3x3" pieces of polarized plastic. Yeah, I'm going to go with the iz3d stuff and a new video card when Win 7 comes out.

Mirrors Edge is awesome if you don't get motion sick easily. Also 3D Sex Villa, for the subby.

I think really, the first question ("do you like video games") could be replaced with "Are you willing to deal with configuration (hardware/software) in order to get more flexible control/performance"? and it would be perfectly accurate. Oh, except for the 360/wii comparison - 360 is still OK for local friends, and has better graphics, but wii has motion-focused control schemes and rules with first-party games... Oh, and 360 vs ps3 comes down to more than just multiplayer, too, since the ps3 does have some instances of good multiplayer (and it's free), but then the 360 comes back with a better entertainment interface ....

But now I guess I'm getting into nuances.

Oh, fark it, buy them all (I did :P - and I REALLY didn't mean to ... bought the wii right after launch for the kid, bought the ps3 when gt5 prologue came out, then bought a 360 as the main component of the living room entertainment center, and I've maintained a gaming pc for decades now :) ) - they really do all serve distinct niches.

its true, although there are fewer RTSs I am liking so its killing that genre on the PC for me. But Valve continues to get my business and Blizzard will too as long as the new battle.net is free

Mainly a console gamer though, loves all 3.

Plus I like Rome total war games much more than halo or some crap like that. Yup, that's Ratchet and Clank to a T. Good game, sexual innuendo in the title (except for the first), lots of fun weapons. I've played the first 3, haven't done Deadlock, did some of the PSP one. I still need to get a PS3, and when I do, Ratchet is going to be one of the first games I get.

Fallout 3 is still my main addiction (waiting over 10 years for a game will do that), especially with all of the top-notch DLC they keep releasing (one more on the way, folks!), and Prototype has it's claws in me as well. I still haven't gotten tired of hurling random civilians at my enemies like exploding footballs of blood and guts. I think those two will keep me satisfied more than long enough for Modern Warfare 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Left4Dead2, Splinter Cell: Conviction, and Batman: Arkham Asylum to come out.

/man, I'm going to be one broke motherfarker this summer...

Keywork99: Bioshock 2 and Batman: Arkham Asylum is what I am frothing for.

I got waaay too many games to occupy me in the meantime. Sold oldies but goodies - Valkyria Chronicles, Star Ocean: The Last Hope, Left 4 Dead... got a bunch to finish still too.

I heard VC sucks, for various reasons, and I'm not willing to pay for a game that even Penny Arcade made fun of. Convince me otherwise?

Star ocean, frankly, was disapointing. What irritated me the most was that the creation system was tits up farking useless until you hit the post game, where 99% of the items you needed to make 'good stuff' would drop (and the final dungeon was just plain cocksucking bad). There was less then no reason to use the system before completing the game, and that just pisses me off.

Oh, and to the Blazblue comment-ers, is it worth picking up? I decided a long time ago it was going to be horrible, based only on the sheer pressure gamestop (online and physicals stores) was pushing it. You couldn't check the website or a store without seeing a screaming bleeding add for the game for the last 6-12 months.

Also, can anyone post a text summary of the link? I am not going to watch a video of crap I could find on gamefaqs or gamestop in under a minute (I mostly want to know what they consider worth mentioning).

Clearly none of you have heard of BoneTown - the greatest porn game you can't jerk off to (due to it being too awesome of a game to put the controller down)

Check it out if you haven't: BoneTown Homepage (new window)

Definitely. (new window)

/I'm enjoying it, anyway.
//Already lost 10 hours in the past two days toying around with it.

adamgreeney: Until then the rest of us will laugh at you while you try to tell us Fallout 3 is better on a PC.

I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the better graphics, vastly better resolution, much shorter loading time, massive mod support from the Fallout community, and not having to try to use an analog stick to aim a gun.

Really, please, name any reason whatsoever that Fallout 3 could be better on a console.

Our DLC is only mostly broken on release date unlike yours which is outright farked from the get-go?

Well, till they get it fixed, there's all that unofficial free DLC I can play with in the meantime. And quite possibly an unofficial fix to the official DLC, for that matter.

I just don't know why people would claim a console that was based on last year's tech the day it was released, and using a vastly limited controller I could plug into my computer if I wanted to, and limited to a 1920x1080 resolution, is somehow the better way to game.

Not that I'm saying consoles are trash. You can buy a better console than computer for the money you'd spend. But claiming they're the best way to game is like claiming that your new budget hatchback is the best way to drive, when there are clearly better cars if you're willing to spend more. If you want to argue about which hatchback is best, go nuts, but don't start claiming it outdrives a Mustang.

Dearest lovely America, supporting EA makes baby Jesus cry.

Haven't you heard? EA is on the up and up.

Activision is the new gaming Satan.
